LOC Location Options in Base models

As the title of the thread suggests I just wanted to ask if people have any recommendations on where I can install the Line output converters for my amp install in the base model.

Could I install the rear speaker LOC in the trunk and splice the wires there or do I have to install both (2 channel) LOC's in the front.

Note: I have 2 two-channel kicker kislock LOC's for the 4 channels (two front door speaker and 2 rear speaker).

Any input would be helpful.

Do you need to tap all four channels or are you just looking to power a sub? If the latter, you can just tap into the rear speakers.

I have a 5 channel amp (4 speakers + sub).
I want to channel into all four speakers. I will be upgrading the speakers as well.

I bought speedwire and ran it back to the trunk to my two LOCs that feed the amps and everything is in the spare tire well for now (PP so no tire in there).

Stingers Speedwire (sometimes called 9 Wire) will carry 8 conductors (plus remote turn on) from the front tapped source to the rear and you only have to run one cable.

I'm actually a little confused still. Do you have the LOC's in the trunk or attached up inside the head unit?.

This stinger wire you mention is it wired into the headunit?

Sort I'm a noob here. I don't even know where to start the install. As in which wires to split or cut in the head unit.

It's too bad there isn't a clear tutorial.

So the stock base head unit has wires in the passenger kick panel that can be tapped. I did this and ran the speedwire to the trunk to my LOCs (soon to be replaced by a DSP) that then feed my amp.

Send me your ACM and Ill convert your head unit to low level output and turn the processing off... that way you don't need any Line outs.. if you do it this way you can just grab it behind the radio and run RCAs straight from the radio to the amp

How does this work exactly? Do I ship the ACM? Does it have RCA female ports or will you add those?

Yes.. ship the act to me.. Ill program it and ship it back.. or you can buy a new one and ship it to me and Ill ship it to you

The RCA connectors I do not include... What I recommend is buying and RCA Y cable that is one male too female and cut the male end off and that gives you two separate RCA ends. You can solder those onto the speaker outputs and I will provide the wire color info nation to you.

This is a great way to do it.. because you won't have extra parts in line and those Line outs have gains than need to be just right. and If you don't set them with an Oscope and you are wanting to do a real nice stereo it will cause issues.

The other benefit is me eliminating the factory EQ Curve. The factory has processing that protects against the speakers being blown.. so it won't play certain high and low frequencies. If you're after adding new speakers and amps this is the best thing you can do for your system. it really does away with HAVING to have a processor to fix the factory issues.. I still recommend processing for High end systems..

I tapped all 4 channels so I could use my balance/fader as I like to have the sound faded forward slightly. I tapped the front channels behind each kick panel and ran them to the back. I have my LOC mounted inside the hollow crossbeam at the top of the trunk where I also tapped my rear channels. I don't have any pictures of the fronts though and I'm not looking to pull all that back out lol. I just used a wiring diagram I found on here a while back and traced them out to find a good tapping point.

So you tapped the rear channels from the trunk right?
And also the front door speakers were from both the drivers side kick panel (front left) and the passenger side kick panel (front right?

Sorry for the late reply, yes that's correct. Tapped FL behind FL kick, FR behind FR kick, RL and RR from the wiring loom running along the top of the trunk under the rear deck.

All wiring diagrams are in the "Stereo Information" sticky at the top of the Infotainment sub-forum. Good luck with your install
