Just been doing a fair bit of research and a few things came up that interested me.

Firstly, advice on confused.com website is that you must inform your insurer about mods but then goes on to say the following

Your insurer doesn’t need to know about every little change you make. If you have a new paint job, for example, that’s probably not going to affect your car’s performance or value greatly, so there’s no reason to tell your provider.

Well surely thats like a wrap!

Another thing, Manders, you may have considered this. It suggests adding and older named driver to your poilcy and this could see the premium fall. This is not fronting as you are naming them as an additional driver. May be worth a try if you haven't already.

Obviously it wont work if you try to add your older brother who had 10 point on his licence and has been banned twice!...........not that I am saying that is the case, just an example of what not to do!

I have mom - 24yrs driving exp 5 yrs ncd
Dad - 27 yrs 1 sp30 Dec 14

Older brother 5 yrs ncd no points (23 yrs old)
I've fiddled around with it and adding my brother screws me a bit, but parents bring it down about 200-400 total.

As for paint work/wrap. Yes I knew this it's complete bs, but they now do need to be notified and id rather not be bent over if some plonker with no insurance crashes into me and insurance refuse to cover me cuz I have a shiny satin wrap (oops just gave away the finish of it [emoji13] )

I think you're mis-interpreting the website. What they mean is, if you have a re-spray in the same colour, there's no need to tell the insurer.

As most wraps are colour change - you definitely do. In fact, you should really also tell the DVLA as colour is part of the V5!

Blame increased reliance on APNR. If you pass a camera and they are expecting a red Mustang and see a blue one - expect a tug. Then they check your insurance, then they realise you'd breaching it, then your fined, then you can't get insurance etc.etc.etc.

It's just not worth the risk - especially as a 21 year old in ÂŁ30k car.

If it helps Manders, satin wraps look shite. You'll look like a drug dealer from Slough (or Birmingham in your case) ;)

Mine was one of the Tarago-shipped cars to get transported to the UK on the Viking Odessa on Tuesday, it's in Southampton now. Finalised all the details with the dealer yesterday (picked number plate, trade-in sorted, service pack added etc). The delivery date as of yesterday was still showing as early April though, the dealer has to wait for the cars to get through Southampton and for Ford to then transport them up to the dealership. Hopefully it will actually be a bit quicker than that, but either way it's almost here!
That's reassuring - as it's the same story I got (unless you're with the same dealer - Reading?!?!?).

Manders - whilst dealers can go and collect, this will obviously cost them and margins are slim on the cars as is (I'd reckon on ÂŁ500 a unit). Can you see them spending 70% on that just to keep you happy? I can't.

Good stuff. You know pics are forum law dont you?
There will be pictures :) I don't think I've actually seen one on the UK section in my spec yet (Ruby Red, non-custom pack GT)!
davidb odd, my dealer said once they're in Southampton the dealers can request them brought up to them. If you need the car urgently (or cba waiting) ask him to bring it up asap.
Maybe it varies by dealer chain, but he said the transportation is entirely down to Ford until it gets to the dealership, they aren't involved in picking cars up from Southampton.

Apparently mine is being 'load built' for transport from Southampton to the dealer. Getting close!

Ford system seems to run a week to 10 days later than actuality for Zeebrugge, Southampton, dealer arrival dates.

My dealer is happy with me keeping him up to date on where we're at.

Lol, not a drug dealer. This satin one wouldn't. Seen it in the flesh, and got a scrap door panel of an old volvo wrapped in it to see (test pannel) and it looked gorgeous in my opinion.

I'm now tossing on matte satin or gloss for my carbon fibre on the car. Oh the stress [emoji12]

Banker/work in a bank. Not drug dealer fyi ;)

Matte doesn't have any shine to it so will look incredibly tacky incredibly quickly. Satin you can have different levels of shine but also keep it somewhat dull, allowing it to stand out more.

I'd originally looked at doing matte black with a gloss black v stripe through the middle and then having some red pinstripes on the car. Opted against it after seeing matte black in the flesh, wouldn't work on a daily driver at all imo. Haha!

I'm not sure what to make of this
I'm putting carbon fibre on the roof wing mirrors splitter skirts and rear vallance. Just deciding which variant to go with. It'll probably be gloss to go with the gloss of the race red...

Hmm...not entirely what I was getting at :D
However I had considered matte black ott stripes on my Magnetic at some point but a number of people seem to favour gloss so i'd definitely be looking at examples of each beforehand.

My friends got a satin carbon bonnet. It'll be a toss of a coin between satin and gloss carbon.
