That's with no mods fyi. I just had another bit of drama that insurers were coming up with 1100 for car no mods on which was making me flip sh1t.

I'm sure you've already tried but have you gone through Aviva? They were the only company to quote me less than 3k for insurance on my GT. Got it for 1k exactly and thats including the catback.

Sure it doesn't feel like it, but insurance isn't really that expensive for you younguns nowadays - I was paying over 900 quid for my 205GTi 1.9 (hope you know what that is... ;)) when I was 21, that was a lot of cash almost twenty years ago! To be paying pretty much the same figure now for something worth a lot more and with 400hp is really not a bad deal for you!

This is why after I passed my test at 18 I didn't drive for a few years. I got quoted £2000 to be a named driver on an Astra lol I was paying that much as the only driver on an Evo a few years later.

It's changed recently. 17 year old get off quite light. As women and men were averaged out just after I passed (bullllshiiiit)

I also passed at just before by 19th birthday (early sept). Not through failing etc more through massive cba to pass during school years!

As for me currently as I need to insure 2 vehicles in April
Corsa 1.2l - 525quid
Mustang 2.3l - 755quid

Ignoring mods for well my own sanity and stress levels right now.

I had it for 7 days when I picked my car up but they couldn't even do a quote for me after that as I'm a taxi driver (but they'd insure me, no questions asked, for a week?!).

Might be worth trying them?

I am not in the UK so please excuse my ignorance. Why would you be charged more for insurance with aftermarket parts on your car when they are usually way cheaper than factory installed parts. Factory installed exhaust parts for example, cost twice as much, if not more, than any aftermarket equipment you can install.

Because insurance companies see any modifications as making your car more attractive to thieves.

Because UK insurance companies are farcical and money churning machines. The wrap costs more as It makes the car more desirable and susceptible to theft.

Settling on this:

Race red. Carbon fibre splitter, vallance, side skirts, wing mirrors and roof. Will look into exhausts just waiting on [MENTION=19807]SteveP[/MENTION] pricing on the miltek for cat back and axel back systems. Hey I've got about 1600 quid to go around right now. Can't complain can I!!!!!

That is correct any mod even if it "rices" (aka makes the car shitter). Would rise the price of insurance here. Us insurance will pay out cash on a crash. Ours we never see cash unless were injured.

Sorry to hear about the wrap, MM :(

And yeah, insurance does my head in, too, and I'm an old git at 45! I think my S197 cost me a little over £700 in the first year and fell to £550 in the second. Since then, it's ALWAYS been around £450.....that's for a garaged car on a 1500 limited mile policy.

So, insurers don't just hate you, MM. They hate me too :frusty:
