First event of paint damage

My trusty steed took a hit today from a fly-away jagged stone on the highway and took a nice little chip out on the very front of the bonnet. It's all over now, once that first mark is there - the game of perfection is gone!

Anyone have any recommendations/ remedies to fix this - other than a full respray on the bonnet?! I won't respray until the chip has 9 other brothers and sisters!

Do these things come with touch up paint?

TBH apart from a full respray there's not much you can do, apart from dabbing the hole with some paint on the end of a toothpick so that the base metal doesn't rust.

I would recommend Dr Colorchip like others have on this site, just recently did this to a chip on my hood. Mostly to prevent any other paint/rust issues.

I'm hesitant about driving my car from the dealer straight to the detailer 20km away for the 3M bra to be applied in fear of picking up a stone chip along the way.

Thinking about trucking it (which has its own risks).

Oh really, never heard that but you might be right. I'll ask that Question in the UK section.

Well just to let you all know it is Ally and not steel....magnet test done on a UK one and proves it.

Thanks and sorry for leading you down that track - I was sure I read it somewhere because we also don't get the pressed pony on the underside of the bonnet which appears on cold dewy mornings...that I know 100%

I regretfully ended up with half a dozen stone chips after a trip to the Bathurst 12 hour.:(:(:(

'Honey I scratched your car' were recommended to me and I can thoroughly recommend them. They also work closely with Superfinish Express, who actually carried out the work.

They were fantastic to deal with, and went the extra mile with my Mustang. They realise how passionate I am about my car, and really took their time in colour matching the stone chips. The price charged was amazingly reasonable.

They are also real car enthusiasts, and the business owner has a CO GT ordered as well.

I still know that the stone chips are there, but they don't stand out like the proverbial!!!

The larger chips were on the bonnet, and a decent one on the drivers 'A' pillar.

The bumper, lights etc escaped unscathed!

Funny thing is I didn't notice being sprayed with anything substantial, and I was ultra cautious going through any roadworks!

That's what decided me on getting the dealership to do the whole lot, paint protection, window tint, car bra - all under their warranty. Can't be bothered going all over town and then worrying if they stuff something up. Eg had windows tinted on a previous car and that lead to an issue with the speaker inside the door. Just my personal view on this.
