Front bumper cam / sensors

Has anyone installed, without drill into the front bumper face a camera and or parking sensor system

I already know how to do a no drill solution for the front camera the question is how to integrate the view on the inside

I was surprised to find that the new Explorers have a front view camera from the factory... could probably leverage that method.

They have sync... not sure if it's v3, but don't know why they'd put a lower version in... although it does appear that they specify sync 3 for the mustang and only sync for the explorer?

They didn't put sync 3 in a few 16 cars.. The Explorer and fusion.. 17 will be the first years for those and sync 3

We'll either have to wait, or an enterprising company will have to work on a solution.

I dabbled with it going over the pin outs and what not since I did the front camera set up on my last car, the problem is everything is plugged in through modules on the mustang. So it's not as simple as splicing in a camera switch ( to switch from front to rear) and plugging it back in

I didn't say that.. anything is possible.. the thing is when you have a front and rear or 360 camera system.. there is another module in the mix that take all the cameras in and sends out the signal intended to be sent out.. it isn't like the others where it basically goes straight to the APIM..

you can get a camera.. you will need the camera module.. as ell as things to be programmed.. it shouldn't be too big an issue.. you just need someone that is capable to do on site programming.. if you were in my area I could do it for you.. it is difficult to send files on a job like that.. because there are sync 3 cars with front camera.. the edge the lincoln mkx.. the F-150..

You could possibly do an aftermarket video switcher.. you just would need a module to switch video sources.. plus a way to force the APIM into reverse camera mode and then switch the video to the front camera.. the video into the APIM is NTSC.. so any regular video signal will work

Just looked at NAVTV and they actually have a switcher for just this purpose.. it the DIFF-CAM.. this will do just what you need but you still will need an additional nav tv part.. but with those two parts you should be good to go

I was looking at using the best sonic camera switcher (cs3ep) because that's what I was familiar with, I'd have to look into what you said as well.

I definitely want to get a front camera up and running without using a secondary screen.

Something about smacking carbon splitters on things sucks.

Front camera can be done with factory parts.. you would need a image processing module.. and some wiring.. and the front camera.. It would be a little of a trick programming wise.. you would need to do a lin bus initialization.. add it to the can bus.. and then figure out the activation process..

Aftermarket parts will be much easier.. if you get a switcher and a part to force the apim into reverse.. you also could go with wiring into the existing video input on the apim... and then you wouldn't need a switcher.. you would basically select the video input for the front camera.. that would take some programming also for the apim..

All in all it is a possibility to do it..
