Respect your comments but obviously this car did not get bid to over $60K by itself and suggest that there were a number of bidders interested in this car therefore it had much interest by more than one enthusiast.

Have you ever owned a Pilot Production car or know much about them?

Maybe this car is "PP001" or maybe some other number but there certainly is a following for these unique cars and the general public confirmed that.

I suggest that going forward more PP cars will come up for sale at Manheim including an "R" model or two and you can bet that similar pricing will fall into place subject to the Manheim Report which typically is quite accurate.

It is interesting how people such as yourself consider this purchaser to be a twisted collector without knowing him/her or much about this car.

Lastly, who are you and I to suggest how people should spend their hard earned money and if we disagree with their choice they are considered twisted?

I think you read him in the worst possible light. He said "twisted collector value on a pp car". I'd read that as related to the value of the car, not the twistedness of the collector. I'm with Rick - I don't know if there's a special/added value to a PP car, in this case.

Why are people so sensitive about prices around here? Some dealer forked over 60k for that car probably because they think they can still turn a profit on it. Who knows if they will.

The bottom line is these cars are really hot right now. Will they stay hot? Who knows. I bought mine to drive and keep. I could really care less what the value is. It's not an investment for me.

I have never understood the infatuation people have with how others spend their money. Specifically WRT ADM. I paid $2K markup for my car and couldn't be happier. I guess I could have waited to get one at MSRP, or for a discount, but I wouldn't be driving it right now.

I agree on all counts with BDUB, I bought this car to drive it, get bored with it, modify it and drive it some more. Anyone that buys a new car in todays market as an investment needs to reevaluate their investment strategy.

Interesting auction for sure and to your point some people do not attach an added value to a PP car but some other people do so many of us understand and appreciate that.

For the people that do attach an added value to the "Pilot Production" cars I would suggest the some of the attractions to these cars for many of us enthusiasts are details such as a unique VIN sequence, unique chassis build sequence number, typically very early production dates and in some cases 2 window stickers one of which is the pre production window sticker listing these cars as "Not To Be Sold" and "Not For Sale" along with other irregularities with the second one being what the car is sold with.

Also, many PP cars never make it to the public and are destroyed so it will be interesting to see how many more GT350/GT350R's make it to auction?

I could be wrong but I would suggest that this 2016 GT350 PP car was built sometime in the spring of 2015 which actually precedes all of the 2015 GT350 assembly dates. In the case of the first two (and all 12) 2012 Boss 302 PP cars these cars were actually built back in 2010 as 2012 models.

It also has been my experience that very little paperwork will accompany these PP cars but will say that Ford Performance will typically supply a "Certificate of Authenticity" for these PP cars.

Again, all of this means little to some people but is of interest to many others and I certainly get all that.

It was probably just a dealer who had a buyer looking for a GT350 and purchased this one for them. I have attended many of these auctions and purchased cars, frequently I would buy a car for another person, they would give me a ceiling to bid. Often they were willing to pay much more than me to get what they wanted vs. me trying to buy to resell and make a profit.

Ford then priced it at a point that would make them money. We are then FORCED to buy this product through a dealer network that can arbitrarily add price to the product, because the consumer is unable to buy it from any other source new. If no one paid ADM, then there would be no ADM. Once people start paying, dealers will continue to raise it to the threshold. So this is why, my $0.02. It only hurts to consumer. It's a vicious cycle/game.

This is how it has been since the beginning of time.

If you found something of value...say, a gold bar... on the side of the road; you've paid nothing for it, it's free to you. Does that mean that you will just give it away to someone who wants it? Of course not. Items have a perceived or market value and that value frequently has NOTHING to do with the cost to obtain said item.

Flip it around the other way.... My dog shits in the yard. I have some extra shit that I'd like to sell. I'd like $50 per turd. The consumer sets the value on items and I doubt any consumer is going to come off of $50 for one of my dogs exquisite piles.

But the dealers need that ADM! How else will they pay for the fuel for their private jets. And yes, the guy that owns the local dealership has one.

GT350 was a gift to Ford dealers. The undertone of the speak to the Ford dealer network was that the dealers would be able to make good money off of these... so it's pretty much built into the design of this deal.
