Normally, I'm quick to reject sales pitches, but I'm interested in hearing the boards opinion on this. I hope this is the right subforum. Sorry if not.

I'm finishing up the purchase on my new car, and the finance people pitched me the usual bumper to bumper extended warranty which I shot down, as expected.

Then, they brought out the big guns that forced me to have them email me and let me think it over...So, naturally, I come to an unbiased source of sage wisdom for advice :)

Here it is:

(Rejected the first one)
Ford Protect Bumper to Bumper for 6 years (48k miles)
$2110.00 Retail
$1110.00 Special Pricing for this month only

Ford Protect Premium Maintenance for 6 years
$1585.00 Retail
$885.00 Sale Price

Ford Protect Triple Care for 6 years
$1304.00 Retail
$504.00 Special pricing for this month only

I'm sure you guys had similar pitches to you. What did you decide on? Worth it? To have the Brembos changed at the dealer, it would probably be at least $400 or so...

The warranties should include mileage AND the length.

You usually get the best prices here: https://www.floodfordesp.com/

IMO, the warranty is not worth it if you mod. I would only buy the extended warranty if I did not mod AND I planned on definitely keeping the car over that time period past the included 36K bumper to bumper/60K powertrain warranty.

Maintenance, meh. Get some better fluids in there. If you plan on letting the dealership do the fluid changes with the purchased plan, just know it's pretty much just synthetic blend oil changes until 100K I believe, then coolant, then 150K is tranny.

Just stick with no, your car will not blow up and if it does ford will still cover it. The stuff they sell is to just make a profit. Never buy the warrenty.

premium maint covers everything belts hoses clutch break pads seems like a pretty good deal and that's cheep was an extended warranty. Deps if your going to keep the car stock or modify it.

Honestly, for a regular GT I probably wouldn't consider it. I feel like the Brembos are going to eat around half of the cost.

Like daltron said, use that Flood Ford website to get your warranty, or use it as a negotiation piece like I did. Keep in mind I believe you have until your original warranty runs out to buy it, but it may be more expensive as you add miles to it (need to confirm).

Normally warranties aren't worth it, but once something goes wrong you'll wish you had one. In my case it was worth it (got the 6 yr, 100k mile PremiumCare warranty). My car needed major service and was out for 3 weeks. Didn't cost me a dime and had a free rental the entire time.

Obviously if you're going to mod heavily, don't bother (especially a tune).

At the end of signing the paperwork for my car they were offering me 10 year/100,000mile bumper to bumper for $1000. I didn't take it, still wondering if I should have. Of course the salesman said modifications I made to it wouldn't effect the waranty.

Last time I got an extended warranty on a civic, the car broke down twice and the "equal to factory warranty" I purchased did not cover the items. Of course, I was 20 or so then... damn hard lesson.

Not all lost, I took it to a bootleg repair shop and they "found" the repairs were actually covered by the warranty.

Don't judge... I was 20 or so...

I bought the extended warranty, thinking I'd never modify the car because it was already perfect bone stock. Now I kind of regret it in a way, because I keep thinking of so many things I want to do to my car! :frusty:
