Local dealer struggles with this, and I haven't been successful either...

I have XY75w85ql for the diff fluid. 1.6 qts needed (3.2 pints)

Dealer said friction modifier is XL3 for the diff?

What is the transmission fluid?

XL18 needed?

Don't want to do aftermarket fluid, thanks.

MT82 6 Speed takes 2.7 Liters of XT-11-QDC and XL18 Additive. I will tell you it's expensive to purchase the additive. We had the fluids changed the first time in our test car by the dealer. This was done for a solid record in the Ford System in case issues arose down the road.
1. They didn't stock any of the fluids.
2. They Sold BG Products and worked very hard selling them to me.
3. I waited for them to order it in and had the fluids changed with all factory fluids. The parts cost for 3 qts of fluid was $97.23+27.26 for additive = $124.49.

The factory fluid works well initally, then shifting becomes 'notchy'. During this time we researched BG Products Syncro Shift II (What the Ford Dealer wanted to install) and now we understand why. BG Products supplies Ford with much of their fluid servicing equipment, the several of the Ford dealers stock it so this implies Ford quietly approves of it's use.

We run BG Products in our MT82 and Rear Differential. Our car always shifted well, after the switch to BG we were amazed at the change. So we put a kit together for the MT82.

When using BG do you still need an additive?
Additional additives are not required or recommended. It's in the additive package of the oil already. Ford added the $20-30 additive for low temp operation as a TSB fix. After the additive degrades, so does the shifting. Syncro Shift II seems to resolve it but we will continue to share results as we torture it :)

Engine heat is the enemy, the transmission sits behind it with little to no air flow. We are working on a cooler for the MT82 and Rear Axle. They get pretty warm on during a track day. Hence why we change it out more often.
