Dave..I knew I was right about the England thing...lol Now another guess..In regards your licence plate. OH OH 7, did this come off your Aston Martin, You know James Bond 007? The reason I ask was I had a Aston Martin and my Licence plate was NEW 007 .....

Got a few UK people - I grew up in London.

Anyway put 380 miles on my Shelby GT350 - it does EVERYTHING sooo well - i'm still in a sort of shock. I expected good don't get me wrong - but this is just ridicolous. I see why Road and Track magazine rated it 2016 winner. And the sound....no words.

Other cars I had been test driving and considering for my new track toy over the last 14 months include the 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo PDK, 2008 Porsche 911 Turbo (6Speed), Porsche 997 GTS PDK, Ferrari Modena (6speed) and the Corvette Stingray Z51.

THE SHELBY BLOWS THEM ALL OUT OF THE WATER....NO COMPARISON.
Unless it is a GT3 or GT3RS, you are wasting your time. I swear...I have the same grin on my face every time I exit the GT350 as I have when exiting the GT3 - that says allot!!!! This is an awesome car and cannot wait to get it on the track!!

Sure am, what gave me away?!

I grew up there, moved to the US about 9 years ago when I was 23.

It's an impressive machine isn't it? I was honestly expecting to be a little disappointed based on my previous car history, but I'm floored by what Ford have managed to accomplish. This car will be staying with me for quite some time.
Yes, indeed. Ford has delivered a car that can truly hold its own in some fierce competition. It is more than just numbers - it is the experience it creates between the motor, brakes, and suspension. I am impressed with he tactile feedback through the steering wheel which gives the car much predictability.

The only reason I would get rid of this car is to get a GT350R, which will most likely happen when ADM's get more reasonable.

Yeah, I traded the AM against it, so kept the tag. I feel as though I've become truly American now, rather than just a Brit with US citizenship :D

That's a great plate too! I have a friend down here with another one I quite like on a DB9 - NOTASPY. If you don't mind sharing, would you indulge us on some of your car history?

I was highly tempted by the R, and had one available to me at $10k over, but I felt it was almost a little pointless, as I was planning on daily driving it. I'd need to spec the tech package as I live in FL, as well as install the rear seats, and I'd probably have to swap the tires to PSS right off the bat. A bit of a shame to take everything the R is and add everything back in.

Seemed easier for me to get a GT350, get an R rear wing and call it a day!

I've got 1100 miles on the car now, and I have to say, it's just gotten better the harder I push it. I've had the chance to really put it through its paces now, and my initial thoughts still stand - this is quite a package.

I'm still struggling to decide on a rear wing/spoiler, as none of the current crop of R "lookalike" wings are authentic enough for my tastes, but hopefully i'll get there soon enough.

Next on the list are kooks headers, and then I need to find time to get the Xpel put on.

Speaking of impressive vehicle lists, my son has a friend in college. In the two years he has known him the kid has had: two Vipers, a GTR, Lamborghini (his dad still has it), Ferrari 458, Porsche Carrera 4, Z06, and most recently an Aston Martin Vantage V12. After three weeks the Aston threw a CEL so next week he is trading it in for a Bentley Continental GT Speed.

No way I would trade a V12 Aston for a Bentley but sounds like he just shuffles cars. Daddy's money I take it?

I suspect at this point all the "R" wings are the same one out of china. Be very strange for all of them to independently arrive at the same non-OEM 4 screw mounting setup.

and much of the appearance issue is they are mounting it with the base flush to the back of the trunk lid while the oem is farther forward by a good bit.

Dave, I live in FL and I think we should start hanging out immediately. I can help you drive all those cars so they dont get rusty rotors . I am available most weekends to assist you. Please PM me.

Thanks

I remember getting a lot of amusing comments from people when I'd drive the Ferrari's or other exotics to USF. I'm still fairly young, and decided I wanted to go back to school again to pursue medicine as a career. Was always entertaining, and I recall one particular day right at the end of my last semester when I pulled up outside the library in the 430, and someone yelled out "Oh is that Daddy's car?" to which I replied "no, his is red". I never got a response from that one.

I'd have to agree, yet it's clear the Anderson Composites one is constructed differently to the HCM one, as you can see the mounting plates are much thinner, like the OEM, rather than super blocky/chunky on the HCM.

Honestly, from looking at actual R pictures, it seems the rear wing is mounted flush with the trunk edge, just as the others are, so it has to be a profile/contour issue with the aftermarket ones.

Haha, as much as I appreciate the offer, it will be a sad day when I'm unable to perform these duties myself!

I never owned a Ferrari personally (though my dad had a gorgeous F512 Berlinetta Boxer - fantastic car)

I did notice surprised looks though from some people when I was 27 driving my brand new Porsche 911 on a college campus. Fairly certain my "US Paratrooper" license plate kept most from saying something stupid though haha.

Most people have positive things to say about nice cars I find.

I'm on call, too, but sitting at home, awaiting the next methamphetamine-induced psychosis to show up in the ED. As far as my son's friend, they are Indian immigrants who have become raisin barons. They actually met in the college parking lot. My son was admiring his GTR and he my kid's STi.

That could easily be an article ;) Good writing!
Very kind, thank you.

Indeed, there's definitely some interesting aspects to medicine, and never a dull moment.

The response to the cars at college was overwhelmingly positive, just the odd stupid comment. I was pretty well known on campus, especially having the cars and a British accent! Never had a single incident of damage either to any of the cars, which was a relief.

Seems we have a few physicians here then :)

Call in the ED is great isn't it :headbonk:
