STEEDA website says this for weight reduction for each brand:

- Corsa: 4 to 9 lbs. reduction (I guess depending on model)
- Magnaflow (or STEEDA Magnaflow): ~30 lbs. reduction

I'm confused. How does the Corsa weigh more or less 25 lbs. more? Or is this yet another confusing, copy and pasted product description?

So far I'm liking the sound of both of these (quad tip for the Corsa, of course) but hell I'll get the Magnaflow if it's 25 lbs. lighter. Sheeeiiit. :eyebulge:

Are you talking about the Magnaflow street or competition? If it's the latter, the mufflers are barely that more like just resonators. I could see how they would weigh a bit less than the actual case mufflers of the corsa which are big and filled with lots of sounds deadening stuff.

I'm talking about Street. Should have clarified. But the product listings for Street and Competition both claim the 30 lbs. weight savings. My emails to Magnaflow and Corsa just confirm what they have on their website but they did not make any effort to explain how there could be a 25 lbs. weight difference in what is essentially some pipes and sheet metal in all the same places and distances. That'd mean either Corsa is using heavier grade/thicker metal or their mufflers weigh aaaaa lot.

I just ordered the Magnaflow Catback Street. The shipping weight is 62#'s in the packaging. Has anyone weighed the stock?

And THAT difference makes much more sense.

Aftermarket being 30 lbs. lighter? That doesn't pass the gut check unless I'm seeing lighter metals being used, but, hey, not like I change out exhausts every day. I know the Magnaflow muffler on my Silverado was lighter than the stock muffler, but by like 5 lbs. if I remember correctly. Didn't make the truck sit higher off the ground due to less weight, haha.

Well the stock exhaust has that big heavy resonator deal under the car, and my Magnaflow Comp cat-back had the X-pipe.... so I bet alot of the weight savings come from NOT having that big rectangular resonator.

That 62 is with the packaging. It is about 25-27 pound weight savings.
Right! The box and packing materials add up to quite a bit.

Now we cant really speak to the construction of other systems but if that weight information is correct on the Corsa kit, it would seem that the majority of the weight difference is due to the mufflers. Ours are straight-through design without any baffles etc, which helps keep them their weight to a minimum.

-100 pounds buys .1 second
+10 hp buys .1 second

That's the logic I've always heard.

So... if that's true, I shouldn't be worried about the weight.

Just seems like such a 'uuuuuuge difference for what is essentially some pipe and a muffler. Looks like I don't know anything about mufflers... haha.

Well I sent another email into Corsa, see what those folks say.

Kudos to Magnaflow for developing, evidently, a light exhaust with a nice tone.

Just can't get past the 25 lbs. difference, haha. Muffler baffling can weigh 25 lbs.!? Sheesh. Time to find some new materials for that.

I talked to Shawn@Corsa. about this in November of last year. Here is what he said to me. This is for the Corsa Extreme catback. "Our cat back vs stock catback on 15+ GT is a weight savings of approx 17 lbs. and is full 304 stainless steel. (56 lbs vs 71 lbs )"

Corsa

MagnaFlow Much smaller mufflers. That's why they are so much lighter.

So the Corsa mufflers, which are roughly twice the size, weigh 25 lbs. more... sheesh.

The STEEDA Magnaflow option has similar mufflers, though seemingly still smaller, as the Corsas. And it claims to be 30 lbs. lighter, too. Baffles me...

http://www.steeda.com/magnaflow-mustang-gt-cat-back-exhaust-2015-263-555100/

But ^ is the one I think I'm going to get. If only because it says STEEDA on it and I fell in love with Mustangs when I saw a Mustang that said STEEDA across the back roast tire for 1/8 mi in front of my house as a kid. (You have never seen an Italian mother more pissed off... ever, I assure you.)
