For me, it prevents most rock chips, door dings, bird crap, etc from getting to the original paint. I think the biggest factor for me would be ease of maintenance. All you really need is washing and the occasional waxing. You could be hasty with your washing, and it would look the same since the top coat heals itself. You would never have to worry about swirl marks, claying your car, polishing your car. Basically, it saves you a lot of time. Hell, that'd be the only way I'd ever actually use waterless washes. I work 6-7 days a week, 10-12 hours a day. When I actually have a day off, I'd rather be out driving than at home spending extra time taking care of the paint.Last week I had a 3M product clear bra (Xpel?) applied on the front end up to the hood extractor, mirrors and door edges. Having the whole car done seems imo excessive. What's the point in having the sides of the car wrapped, trunk and rear end? I've always just had the front end done and I've never seen a reason to get an entire car wrapped like this.
This has always been my stance of PFF. At the end of the day this is still a Mustang and repairs wont be like repairing a Ferrari or a Rools. Getting the front bumper and front of the hood/fenders and spending $1k, ok maybe. I still wouldn't spend it personally as it's cheaper to repair in the long run; and the stigma of not buying a used car with a repainted part or chip fixes is an old one before paint on cars got thin. It's expected these days on anything under $100k and used.Yeah, I'm not down paying 10% of the purchase price of the car for Xpel. Xpel will not stop dents. It will only stop light scratches. Trust me I've had it on a Rolls and an FF. It makes sense for those cars because a minor ding, scratch or dent costs a fortune to fix. But in this situation anything that the xpel might help prevent would easily be a $300 fix from a scratch/dent guy. That's a lot of dent/scratch repair to equal the up front investment. I don't believe its justified unless you get into the +$100k car game.
We have done it before on Porsche's no problem and on an older Gt500 but we have been doing XPEL for 5Years now it shouldn't have.Did the installer mention how the stripes will hold up, if the XPEL needs to be removed and reapplied a few years from now.
we do it here great stuff XZILON, Opticoat, and C QUARTS.I think I'm going to do the Opticoat Pro coating to my car and forego the PPF.
Anyone had any experience with the Opticoat Pro?
All my cars have been done and re sale is great when the paint is in good shape yes it is a lot of money but the end result is great rinse a go.I am a big fan of PPF especially if the car will see the track. I do not think I would do full coverage on a GT350 but if I had an R and was tracking it I would consider it.
