Guys, Chevy is selling all the Camaros it can produce. In a couple of months, we won't be having this discussion. And comparing December 2014 sales of 2015 Mustangs that had been out for awhile selling against old Camaros the marketplace knew were going to be replaced soon against ramp-up sales of the 2016 is absurd.

2016 Camaro only beat the 2016 Challenger by about 1000 units. The Dodge Challenger is only a 7 year old body design. So nice try with the Chevy BS.

And the Challenger keeps chugging along in sales. I enjoyed the one I had for a while but I sure wish they would have made a S197 sized 'Cuda with that 392.

A lot of places advertise GM pricing and non existent incentives to lure people in. Most won't qualify for that price.

Not an incentive. I was quoted that. I could have purchased and financed at that price. There is a few dealers under msrp in my area. And that's Miami, FL

So, just to be clear: A new vehicle that wasn't yet in full production that some dealers hadn't yet received barely outsold the perennial third-place seller. So what? It's a pointless comparison of things that aren't equal. Let's check the numbers again in a few months.

Not exactly sure how early I should start shopping for an MSRP deal, or if it's even possible at this point. And since placing an order has no bearing on production date(at least right now), makes it that much more difficult.

Rough plan right now is shop for a deal around July/Aug, hopefully place an order by December, and take delivery in Feb/March.

Hopefully things will calm down towards the end of this year, and I can just shop and put a deposit in December, and take delivery in Jan/Feb.

Wouldn't you say the same thing for the Shelbys? They can't be produced fast enough so their production numbers are low and not every dealer has them.

No, apples to oranges comparison. The Camaro is not a limited production car with a bunch of bespoke parts and a brand new motor fighting for time in the production line with thousands of other cars a week. It's is the high volume production car, alpha chassis already well under way with the ats, the motor already in full production with the vettes, no real reason GM wouldn't be able to ramp production steeply

At the end of 2016, the mustang will still be on top in sales. Overall, its a way better looking car...

This is the biggest reason why, that's what sold me on the mustang. It was by far the sexiest car on the market at a reasonable price, I was pretty set on getting a Challenger SRT, but the second I saw the GT in person...it became love...it became mine

Alternatively you can try to find a dealer willing to take a deposit on their 2017 allocation and place the order in June when the order banks reopen, and then wait however long it may be. But I don't think you should wait until December or expect to dictate time line and delivery date. Basically secure your order as early as possible and then be patient

Wait till the next gt500 comes out. Those cars will be marked up and maintain sky-high demand.

I'm waiting for a mid cycle refresh, but that's not till 2019/2020, judging the 94-98 sn95 and the 05-09 s197.

My plan was for a 2017 allocation. Shooting for a Feb-March delivery, so whatever it takes to make that happen, be it ordering it 6 months ahead, or ordering it shortly after new years.

If I'm not mistaken, 2018 MY is the mid-cycle refresh year.

As for the v8, it's looking more and more like a dinosaur in the tar pit.
