I hope that never happens. Leave the auto's in non performance oriented versions of mustangs.
Ford already did it with the 2015. It was a unique feature of the 2015 LE thus Ford couldn't do it with autos in 2016. With most of the 15LEs sold 2017my might be when it happens. It will happen just a matter of the year.

Why?

If it opens up sales that otherwise would have gone to the Camaro or Challenger...I say bring it on.

Sales success is more important than protecting the ego and security of manual owners.

Security or insecurity.....lol:headbonk:

1320 gets it. All about sales and market share. It will happen.

I'm all for the PP being offered with the auto trans. Truth be told, holding out hope for the 2017 being offered with this option is the only reason I haven't bought a new Stang yet.

From all the comments I see, it seems that I'm not the only one hoping this happens. Maybe we should start a petition thread! :D

I highly doubt the mustang or any american car will see 10 speed in the next 5-7 years.

Also, guys looking for actual performance will get the auto anyway therein making the whole GT 'PP' manual only is pretty stupid

I highly doubt Ford developed a brand new 10 speed to keep equiping their cars with the ancient 6 speed AT for the next 5-7 years.

Well, the 10-speed auto has already been confirmed for the '17 Raptor (yeah, I know, not strictly a car ;) ).......and it'll then trickle into other models for the '18MY.

Get outta here with that. I used to be a big proponent of DI, now I'm heavily against it as a sole fuel delivery system. Only way I own another DD DI engine is if it's dual injected
why are you against it? It will boost the performance of the coyote, and it should be cheaper than the dual injection system...

I believe its a GM/Ford collaboration too. So will be interesting to see how the car mags manage to say the Mustang has a better transmission than the Camaro when they are reviewing the Mustang and the opposite when they are reviewing the Camaro but they can't resist hyping whatever car is the subject of a review.

In theory, each 10-speed will be calibrated slightly differently to whatever engine it's matched up to, so the software differences could cause a slight change in how each feels.........but, yes, I do suspect some mags may still heavily favour one over the other ;)

Do a search of DI problems. I had a Mazdaspeed and by 20k miles your valves were all gunked up. We had valve cleaning meets LOL. A secondary injection system would keep the valves clean.

Both Mustang and Camaro will have the 10 speed for 2018. The mustang will undergo minimal changes for 17. 18 is the year to watch for.
