Greetings,

I've had my '15 GT PP for just over a year now.

I need to know when the traction control works, & when it doesn't.

I always leave traction control on.

I had my 3rd crazy close call this morning. (didn't work when I think it should have, car got sideways in 3rd @ about 50-60 mph passing someone, returning into right lane)

Thanks,
Rick

traction control when you are in normal drive mode should kick in when it detects moderate wheel spin. Stability control kicks in when the car begins to YAW around it's center access.

In normal conditions, it sounds like you car performed as expected.

sport+ mode will let more wheel spin and yaw happen before it kicks in.

Track mode turns off traction controll, but will still catch you if there is a great amount of YAW (spin).

If you want no spin, and no yaw, turn on snow / wet mode.

Ah yes, more proof. The issue is your PP tires not traction control, they are no good under 45 degrees.

I'm a non premium, so no modes.

The traction control did nothing.

Stability control did nothing.

The only thing that saved it was me.

Tires shouldn't matter. (other than maybe traction control kicking more/easier)

tires always matter. Don't jerk the car hard when returning lane

I didn't jerk the car, there was no need to.

Based on your original post you can't tell if traction control and stability control didn't do anything. They can't defy laws of physics. If the tires don't have grip, you can still lose control if you overdrive the tires. The tires DO matter, and a lot.

As mentioned above, it's the cold weather and your summer tires. That combination, together with decent torque/power, is perhaps more than your TC/AdvanceTrak can completely cope with.

Stop relying on TC/AdvanceTrak and drive as if they did not exist. That means being gentle with the pedals (and probably the steering wheel as well). I'm not flaming you here; I'm being 100% serious.

I fully expect the rear of my '08 GT to step out a little from time to time during the winter, and always being alert to that possibility is half the battle. It did exactly that this morning (19°F, Michelin PSS tires), mostly because I was intentionally trying to provoke it a little. Emphasis is on "a little", as it was a refresher course to myself about how much or little grip I should be expecting to have available for my normal driving. Not the full-blown smoky kind of WOT hooning that maybe belongs at a drifter's competition or a burnout contest, just a hint at where the limit lies.

What did it do and no, tires matter a lot. Traction control and stability control can't save you when you have no grip. They both operate based on tire grip.
I guess you guys never driven on snow and ice won't understand.

Hmm, I'm just shocked that in this day & age, it doesn't work better.

I feel the tc kick in a little routinely in super slow turns.

Previous car was '98 Cobra, granted only 300hp/tq.
