I don't really care about go fast, but I would like to be able to spin the rear tires a little easier. I currently have 3.55 and 18x8 A/S . Not too bad, but 3.73 / 4.11 would probably be better for me than a S/C. S/C is singing its siren song and I am having some difficulty ignoring it.
Those should be some of the easiest tires to spin. I have similar, but in the 19" from the 50th-AP. The other day it was 38* and I wasn't trying to break them loose, but 75% throttle in 2nd gear was all it took (3.55 gear). The rear end did a little left-right-left jitterbug with the traction control intervening.

I'm still getting used to where the "edge of the envelope" is on my current GT. It comes much more abruptly than it did in my last Mustang (1991 LX 5.0 - 225HP).

On my way home last night the driver in front of me decided to brake hard for no apparent reason from 45 mph. Caught me completely off guard, but luckily my PP has those huge brembos and they saved my hide. So I can definitely attest to the performance and practicality of having them. Absolutely love my S550! But not in love with the Perellis after just 16000 miles they were toast and expensive to replace, and not from aggressive driving, but an occasional spirited run to 60 here and there.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news but it was the tires you hate and not the Brembos you love that made any difference in that situation.

Hey Mr. Braski, you have kids, you ain't ever gonna be free.
Until they get to college, what else is a solid $1k/mo cash??

Only other thing I'm waiting for is braces in 8-10yrs.... the orthodontist we use wants cash up front. But is the best in the area.

That makes sense. However, there's got to be good all-weather tires that'll at least come close. When it comes to the S550 GT/PP, it's almost a unanimous complaint that the tires, while performing well in a specific environment, have zero longevity.

Once I buy, the tires will either be close to shot or have already been replaced. I need to start searching around to see what the optimal replacement is when considering cost, longevity, and performance for daily driving in non-snow conditions.

My one daughter needed braces because the teeth were off of center. Then they tried to hook me on the other daughter just for the hell of it. I told him to buzz off. They both have beautiful smiles now.
Little kids, little money. Big kids, big money.

I'm missing something here. That Paul said about S/C, what is that?
Went back and re-read. Not sure either.

S/C = Supercharger
Oh ok, that makes sense.

That's a disadvantage of the PP right? If you want a supercharger, the cars without the PP will do better whether it's due to gearing or whatever...right? Or does it not matter?

I have no desire to have a supercharger as I was plenty happy with the power the car provided...just curious.

Thanks

If you've got the money to install a supercharger kit, it's not all that much more to regear your diff if you want to.

If you don't want more power then do NOT get a supercharger.

Someone suggested getting some seat covers to either simulate the factory leather or at the very least, protect the seats. I see they make some insane ones for Jeeps that will protect it from water/mud/etc. I tried searching but didn't see any threads on seat covers.

Are there any that are made for the S550 that owners prefer?

This might be something to mention in a new thread. I just figured I'd try here first.

Thanks!

haha, awesome experience. That pretty much sums up my feelings when i got into my 16 Premium. I was perfectly content with my WRX hatch and we were there initially to look at explorers for my wife. As i sat there i saw a GT just staring me down, i walk up start kicking tires and the dealer walks up to me and hands me keys and says "what can i do to get you out of the subaru and into the GT" i replied "a hell of a deal and lower payments, haha". he tells me take it for a spin and he'll have something drafted for me. As soon as i hit the engine on button, i knew i was screwed, haha. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior and the way it handled was deceiving for what felt like such a big car with that massive hood! I come back and the numbers he ran were good, but i felt i could leverage the explorer purchase. 3 days laters and various phone calls, I was in one!
