I have a 2016 Shadow Black GT that I bought in October. I just noticed about a week or two ago that my trunk and rear spoiler are pitting BAD. Has anyone else had this problem? Will Ford cover this under warranty? I only have about 1,400 miles on it, and I didn't do anything for this to happen!

I tried taking pictures with my bell phone, but you really can't see it in the pictures. It feels like sand paper and you can see the bumps. I just called the dealership and left a message with service, waiting on a call back.

Has anyone else ever had an issue like this? Either with their mustang or any other car?

Have you been parking under a tree?
Tree saps can look the same. Try clay bar.

Paint Warranty is:

5 years unlimited miles

If the car or truck was produced in 2016, the aluminum body panels are not covered by a "perforation" clause under that warranty. You have to refer to your actual owner's manual for the "fine print" regarding any other paint concerns.

Just as others have said - the sooner it's reported the better. Also make sure car is very clean in the affected areas when brining it in - otherwise someone w/ poor eyesight will say "oh that's road debris"...

I have always kept the car covered and clean, definitely not sap.

Still waiting on a call back from the dealer.

you tried washing the car, make sure its not something on the paint? Can't imagine what would pit the paint unless you live or work immediately downwind from some facility that is generating fumes.

I just spoke to the dealership. They said to bring the car down, they will take pictures to send to Ford.

Ill try again to get some pictures later.

It can be overspray of something or even road spray.
I would try clay bar or some mild polish see if it comes off.
Going through warranty they just gonna respray the paint for you.
And you say bumps so they sit on top of the paint instead of pits which goes into the paint.
I've had over spray on my cars from my work place, such a pain in the ass. One time they were spraying the parking lot yellow lines and got on my blue car. One time they were doing the white roof and got on my white car. I had to use Scotch pad to remove it off the black trims and the glass.

I have a clay bar, I'll try it over the weekend before I bring it in. I just have no idea how this could have gotten on there... I am very religious about keeping the car covered when it is outside.

Congrats on your new Mustang!

Definitely bring it in to your Ford Dealer, JoeySperz. Also, let me get this escalated for you. Please PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number.

There is nothing you can do about the nature. Unless you never drive it, it will get all kinds of crap on the paint.

Thank you, PM Sent.

It definitely looks like it is the paint, not something on the paint.
