^I am glad there is no auto option, less buyers to contend with.

I abso-frigin-lutely love this car so I hate to pile on but I just remembered active rev matching manual transmission (like the C7).
This. It's on everything from the MINI to the Porsche 911S these days - time for it on the Mustang as well. It would go a ways in reducing the demand for an auto.

Indeed. The GT500 will probably be more aimed at the automatic-needing folks.

Even if a DCT-type transmission is faster, there is something rather emasculating about a flappy-paddle shifter.

Indeed, this will surely lose Ford many sales.
Sure didnt seem to lose Ford many sales of Cobras, and GT500's. Keep it as is: NO AUTO TRANS. There's plenty of automatic GT's for you to buy.

The only thing I wish was slightly different was the gauge fonts, like how the Boss 302 had different gauges than the regular GT. Other than that, this car is amazing!

Let me say that I'm really excited to see more information on the car and I hope I will be able to afford one.

If I had to pick a few nits:
-Car is too big and heavy (just like the Mustang is)
-Not that great looking, but ok. The new styling is ehh.

I'm still worried Ford won't make enough and it will be difficult for me to get my hands on one, but that remains to be seen.

The only thing I don't like is the wait. My body is ready for this car.

Just random info for people wanting an AT. It comes at a big price, weight.

GT350 went on a diet. They chose for Tremec TR-3160 because it weighs ~10lbs less than MT82

GT350 6spd MT- TR-3160- Tremec datasheet states "112lbs with mass reduction" don't know it's exact weight in GT350
Mustang 6spd MT- MT82- 123.5lbs
GT500 6spd MT- T56 Magnum- 135lbs

Automatic Weight:
Mustang 6spd AT- 6R80- weighs 215lbs
Corvette 8spd AT- 8L90- weighs 246lbs

Ford does have a challenge with weight, as do all others. The vast majority of customers want quiet cars with lots of options. If they cut down on sound deadening, insulation, carpet, power seats, electronics, A/C, back seats, etc. customers will complain and not purchase. Just hear the complaints around here will people can't get their heated seats on the Recaro's.

If they go to aluminum and especially carbon fiber and exotic lightweight materials, prices significantly increase and customers complain and say price too high for a Mustang and do not purchase.

There is not enough volume in a stripped down track car with expensive lightweight components for $80K+, they have to build a car for the most customers (quiet, comfortable, lots of options, performance).

It is lighter than the Camaro and Challenger, it two main competitors, maybe they can continue to lighten but expect cost to increase or options to shrink.
