When the Mach 1 was announced, Ford took the best of every aspect of S550 and put it into one car. Today, many people consider it the pinnacle of naturally aspirated S550. With the track-focused upgrades you get underneath, there are a lot of advantages that you don't get with the regular GT or EcoBoost. One of those is a redesigned front knuckle and hub bearing assembly. If you're pushing your Mustang to the limits out on track, you may have run into issues with the previous design. Whether that's roll center, bumpsteer, or simple a bearing failure, this kit gives you the best of S550 to ensure maximum performance out on track.

Is this hub/knuckle similar to the hub/knuckle that comes with Magnaride equipped cars?

Looks to be different than the GT with MagneRide version, according to the video.

Similar, but not the same. Different geometry, different hub bearing bolt pattern, stronger construction.

If you watch the video, the hub bearing on the table that has splines in the center is a Magna-Ride hub, it is narrower than the Mach1 hub bearing, also smaller outside diameter.

This would be a great time to also upgrade to some longer studs...do you guys offer the wheel hubs with other stud options rather than stock?
We are currently looking at some upgraded kits - stay tuned!

Thank you,

Painted iron.
Thanks, I thought so. How did Steeda determine the bearing/hub is actually deflecting inside the knuckle and causing issues? Because Ford went bigger on the M1/S650? I didn't really follow the logic in the video of how you all determined the issue and solution. And it is entirely possible I am just dense, and you did state how you figured it out.

Great info, looks like a great kit!

We try to keep these videos as short as possible, if we go too far into the details they get too long.

We determined what was happening by track testing. When we noticed traction control issues(the ABS and or traction control would come back on or go into a default state), that got our attention. From there, it took lots of time-consuming data logging and monitoring. By comparing video timestamps with our data, we saw the ABS wheel speed sensors dropping out on the side with the highest suspension load. With this information, we could determine that the wheel bearings were deflecting enough to cause the speed sensors to lose the signal. Further testing showed this was the case.

After we understood the problem, we tested with other knuckle and bearing designs(all factory Ford parts). This is how we chose the Mach1 knuckle and hub for our kit.

Even under road race conditions, it showed more consistent wheel speed signals than any other.

In short ... we had mad scientists working behind the scenes!

Are the Mach 1 knuckles the same as the 2020 350R?

What’s interesting is my late build 2021 GT Base came with this mach1 bearing/knuckle.
