I think it's a bit harsh to expect to be given a time slot. Whenever I take car in (BMW or whatever) it's kind of a given that they have the car the whole day. Can imagine be very difficult to arrange a specific time slot as can only approximate how long other jobs will take. Plus wouldn't want them to rush any work on my car to meet a time slot.
The dealership (non Ford Store, but Ford dealership), that we're going to do the loom recall (turned out it was already done at the factory), gave me a time slot of 2hrs, of my choosing, I don't see the problem in doing time slots really.

Pretty sure it's a first principle in most industries :)

The Citroen dealer that I have been using for many years gives you a choice; pick up a courtesy car, or drop the car off and leave it, or they do "time slots" for standard servicing - my wife's C3 needed the annual service recently so I arrived at 2:00pm, and left at 3:35pm - they apologised it was 5 minutes late! Nice coffe, newspapers and wifi...

They did offer to wash and valet it as well, but I declined that...

i had my recall done today. After a dodgy start when the service desk said they wanted my car for half a day, and having to pay for a loan car, i spoke to the right person, who agreed they only needed it for an hour and to do it while i wait. So i turned up at 5 to 1 for a 1 o'clock booking, and 45 minutes later i was on my way. It makes so much difference having the right people to deal with. So overall the experience was good....in the end.

Dealers called me more times in the last 2 weeks than he did since I ordered my car. Been discussing a certain issue with my car, 2 of the 3 parts are in, he'll call me Monday, hoping to book in and have the issue fixed on Tuesday. Will have a courtesy car - all good review here so far :).

The Ford GT is going to be looked after by Selected Ford stores. Pretty amazed they are doing this. If they can't look after us mere Mustang owners how are they going to look after these owners when they struggle with a mass produced car!

Thought they would palm this off to specialists some how

After MONTHS of waiting for parts for warranty work (Pony puddle light and auto trans input and output flanges), Lookers Leeds finally phoned last week and booked me in to get sorted.

I took it in Thursday and also explained that i'd been waiting for news on the window catching on seal fix and a related (or so THEY think) door alignment issue. - Previously I'd been told it needed to go to a bigger bodyshop and that the one they used had just closed down.

I'm given a hateful piece of 'machinery' called a B-Max as a courtesy car. For those that don't know what a B-Max is, it's like a car, but one that has been left in a vice for quite some time making it very narrow and a bit too tall. It doesn't have any real power to talk about, and driving up the hill to my house requires that you keep your right foot buried until you reach the summit, otherwise you are in danger of rolling back down. It has more buttons on its centre console than the Starship Enterprise, but weirdly doesn't seem to do much other than go forwards and backwards. Although having said that, the backwards is a little tricky as it doesn't like staying in reverse - you have to do part of the shift whiles moving to ensure it engages properly.

One innovative feature it has is that if you have kids, and don't like them very much, you can subject them to the operation of the rear sliding doors. Park on anything other than a completely level surface and you can watch your kids struggle with the mighty door handles, trapping one of their tiny fingers in the process. And if that doesn't get them, the door sliding back to it's 'closed' position is bout to take several fingers of if not a complete hand, arm or leg. The door is then not likely to want to close fully, but you won't notice, because to all intents and purposes, it looks closed as long as it has slid right up to the front. You could be forgiven for thinking that a not fully closed door is just Ford's usual panel alignment tolerances.

Don't fear though, because if you don't shut your door properly and it rains, for example, there is a handy little cup holder at the outboard side of the rear bench that fills with water to remind you of your mistake.

Review of the B-Max over, back to Ford Service.

So expecting a call by mid afternoon to say my wiring loom recall is done and a new perishable pony light fitted and, of course, window and door alignment ignored, I instead hear nothing. The next day I get a call telling me it has gone to the body shop to have these issues fixed, and can they keep it til Monday, by which time everything (including the transmission flanges) will be fixed.

This morning comes the call to tell me the fitment of the flange requires an 'American' sized tool (I assume they mean imperial) which their workshop doesn't have - so I am waiting again. For how long, who knows?

Fingers crossed, but if I have to drive this gad awful B-Max much longer, I might just push it off a bridge.

For some reason Americans call the sizes 'English'. Confusing isn't it !!

These really suck. I have first hand experience that. Needs destroying in some Top Gear/Grand Tour caravan\hilux type fashion.

My good experience continues. I'm still driving the grand c-max loaned from my dealer back in early October, and I have to say it's a great family car for anyone with small kids who are too young to open the limb removal doors themselves (see b-max post above)
It's great to drive and incredibly practical for putting baby seats and prams in. If they were a bit cheaper I would be sorely tempted to get one for family duties. Fingers crossed I can swap it at Christmas for my second mustang.

jord79, can you let us know how you get on with the window issue? Mine actually got slightly worse after the bodyshop aligned my door. I'm leaving it in on Thursday for this (and the recall). You can work around it if you wait a second between pulling the handle and opening the door, but it still really annoys me!

Yellostang, had everything BUT the window fixed. Mechanic said it had been adjusted to it's lowest setting (I'm not convinced of this) and was going to talk to me about it when I picked up. However, he wasn't around when I picked the car up so will have to chase with a phone call.

Thanks for update. So it's still catching. Great :frusty:

Mine's going in tomorrow. I'm going to tell them to keep it. Not taking it back until its fixed :paddle:
