I've had four BULLITT Mustangs and two Shelby GT500's all 5 or 6 speed manual transmissions. My current 2008 Shelby GT 500 is all stock 500hp 6-speed. I use it for car shows and cruises, no track work or street racing. Being 77 years old, I'm getting tired of shifting gears. I've been thinking of selling the Shelby and buying a low mile Mach 1 with a 10-speed auto. Since I owned a 2020 BULLITT, I'm sure the Mach 1 would be similar.
Is this a crazy thing to do? Will I have buyer's remorse a couple of years from now? At this point, it seems like the Shelby's aren't holding their values, but who knows what will happen with Mach values. My Shelby has 6700 miles on it, not quite worn out yet. Just thinking!

Only thing I would recommend is test driving a Mach. An unmodified very low mileage car like yours will definitely be sought after. I think you could get a pretty penny for it.

LOL! A pretty penny would buy it! Red, white stripes, red/charcoal interior, nav, new Michelin P4S tires, up to date maintenance, coolant, brake fluid, etc. paperwork with the car.

I'm 63 and enjoy tearing around on twisty roads in my S550 and will likely do a track day or two in the near future. However, I sometimes think ahead to when I'm a little older and I would love a nice S197 GT500 for car shows.

I think your decision comes down to how badly you want/need the automatic transmission.

I think the Shelby will always get more looks at car shows and stuff like that, but you gotta do what you gotta do... any Mustang (not Mach-E) is better than no Mustang.

Agree! Having owned BULLITT Mustangs, older people knew the BULLITT at car cruises. The BULLITTS never got the lookers like my Shelby.
It's a tough decision.

Have you considered a new 500? Age thing cconsidered, might be worth a thought or two. Amazing cars, auto and all.

I hear you! Having a few health issues and the fact my wife can't and won't drive a stick has me considering an automatic. It's an age thing...

Yes, I've considered a GT500 however the prices are still very high on these cars. All the GT 500's I've looked at are between $80K and $100K.
And most have only a year of warranty left. Granted, they are amazing and beautiful cars!!

Thatā€™s not a problem, thatā€™s a benefit! Iā€™m in the same boat, she couldnā€™t drive it with a gun to her head.

You will get plenty of lookers with a Mach if you're a car show guy. I go to shows pretty often and it's quite popular.

Thanks for your views on the MACH 1 and lookers. Your car looks great and obviously it's a true winner. The GPMC award is tough to get.
Hopefully, I'll see you and your Mach around this summer. I'm in Butler.
