All I will say buddy you were very lucky that day, from what spectators said you were close to the wall. :(

I never asked you but when it broke lose were all four wheels pointing straight?
Yes mate....that was my point, I know I was lucky, but I can't deny that the whole thing was entirely my own fault...:frusty:... I'd love to blame the track, the tyres, or the weather:) but I can't...

Basically, I was in track mode, (TC off) and using the paddles.:)

As far as I know the wheels were straight:) I think I was in 3rd, at max RPM and as I flipped the paddle for 4th, the car lurched to the right and then immediately to the left... 95% luck and 5% driver input managed to keep me out of the wall:cheers:

Lucky but damn that really should not happen man, just makes no sense no car should just snap in a straight line, wheels straight especially into 3rd upwards. Does not make any sense and is kind of worrying really.

I am looking to arrange something safer and more fun anyway, hope you will be up for it. ;)

I've seen plenty of similar scenarios on some of the YouTube videos.:D

And I've had similar experiences in my TVR's. I think it's just the way some diffs work when traction is lost...

The cause has always been the same though....To much right foot at the wrong time:doh::D

gutted for you and like others have said, glad you are both okay.

I have to say, total respect for you guys that are happy to post your 'mishaps' as it can only help the rest of us. I am convinced I drive my car just a little more carefully because of what others have posted on here.

Main thing - glad your ok.

Agree with Enoch - had enough of my fair share of sideways moments when you forget that you have 400 bhp under your right foot. Two weekends ago I nearly planted the m3 in the scenary overtaking a sunday afternoon dawdler doing 35 in a national speed limit wide open b road. Put the M3 in m mode, floored it then saw the tractor trail of mud, went over lost traction, full left, full right and full left and didn't even think about letting off and got through it. luck rather than skill to be honest.

Bottom line - wether we are on mpss or p zeros - 400 bhp plus needs a bit of respect. Best money I ever spent was on a drift day, found the limits of the car and new what happened when it went berserk.

That is why you survived, you did not left off and in fairness if you keep that principle in the Mustang the differential tends to work well, but if you let off in the Mustang the normal mode stability system factors let the car get to much angle before it steps in, at which time its too late.

But keeping your foot in it is what saved your ass, most people panick and let off which is when it goes wrong, if power does not solve it, modulate and ease out, letting off massively un-balances the car.

In short in the wet the Mustang is a poor handling car, my E46 M3 has far better balance and is easier to drive, whereas the Mustang in the wet takes real skill and talent to push on even on the best tyres.

I advice wet mode and if your doing an overtake do not start acelerating until your on the other side and then ease into it. Smooth throttle inputs and wet mode will keep you safe.
