+1 on the parking garage. 2nd or 3rd floor, right in the middle.

Upper levels of a concrete parking garage would be my option.

I voted parking garage, like others have said. That would probably give you the best chance against flooding and flying debris.

Stay safe

Roll it over a deflated-inflatable boat, then fill it with air.

I think the parking garage idea is pretty good, though you have to be prepared to not have access for a while. Will be some expense for that if it's a pay garage. I doubt concrete garages will come tumbling down. I would consider putting a car cover over top though, to protect from anything flying around.

If the garage fails, it probably didn't matter anyway where you put it.

Public storage spaces are probably prone to flooding, they have flimsy doors, and are easy to break into (attractive for looters).

I know where you live so Donna and I will just come pick it up and bring it back up here for a spell :). Seriously though if you could find a parking garage I would park it on the highest left that's not exposed to the elements.

Here in Palm Coast Fl we took a 85% hit from hurricane Matthew about 11 months ago.
Once retired I would like to live there, but every time a hurricane hits FL I am reminded that extended rentals might be a better choice.

It was amazing what Matthew did to the ocean golf course at Hammock Beach.

other option...

a different state.
Every state has its own issues. Move north to avoid hurricanes, end up with lousy driving conditions for 5 months out of the year.

Weather-wise, northern CA would be tough to beat, though that would be the first state to outlaw the V8 engine.

Leave. Pack up a few belongings and head out of the Hurricane area.

This really is the best answer. Too many people think they'll hunker down and ride it out, and find themselves trapped and screwed.

Voted parking garage. I know you're out on Vilano, definitely wouldn't keep anything there. I feel bad, I'm right up the road in the Madeira development with a 3-car garage but it's already full and still trying to decide on what to do with the 4th car. Would definitely have lended you a spot if that wasn't the case!

Storage or parking garage a few hundred miles north.

I answered the poll "other option" before reading through the thread, because loading up the Mustang and leaving Florida would be my first choice. Since that's not an option, the parking garage as others have noted would be a good solution.

Just note that only now are the last of the flood waters receding in Houston as the rivers slowly return to pre-flood levels. That means your car could be "trapped" in that parking structure for a couple weeks.
