No thanks, possibly might take on a gt500 if performance is thru the roof, if not I welcome a new s650 platform.

We all know the 2018 GT350 is scheduled to carryover the 2015-17 body style, but here's a fantastic rendering courtesy of X-Tomi of what it could look like if Ford were to decide to continue production and adapt the refreshed 2018+ design to the GT350.

(We're also working on getting a Mach 1 version to show you).

And another one in Orange Fury from our own chrisvr6:

On the first pic:
That blacked out area is what was needed to bring symmetry to the front. It was that awkward surface, that created too many angles & complicated the front.

It looks MUCH better with the black air pocket, than fully painted. Look at the 2015 -17 Mustangs, they are blacked out.

Difficult to tell the GT from the GT350 with the changes. Not a fan.

I appreciate the effort making the render but IMO the new refresh has design elements that do not flow with the original design of the S550.
Same holds true for a GT350 with those changes.

Besides the purpose of sparking sales, I really believe this refresh contains elements we will see in the next generation S650.

Overall I like a lot of the refresh, but the design Ford originally went all in on for the S550 just flows better to me. After all that is the design the car was inspired and engineered for.

The refresh changes, while growing on me, look forced into the original design.

I still prefer the original and not because I own one. If the refresh design blew the original away I'd say it.

It was already leaked by the dealer order sheet the 2018 GT350 will not change other than color options. In the event the GT350 would carry over to MY 2019 and possibly 2020 why is it assumed there would be changes?

I think this is more a what if than what will be.

I could be wrong of course but it makes absolutely no sense to me that the 2018 GT350's would keep the current headlights and not get a makeover as well. I think the only reason why Ford mentioned that they 'were not going to change' is because if they didn't they would basically have admitted that a facelifted 2018 was coming, which at that point in time was still unconfirmed.

Btw quality job on the X-Tomi shop with the fenders and everything, it looks freakin' realistic! Also shows how the new hood vents were designed with stripes in mind. And how wrong Ford is to drop Grabber Blue.

One thing to keep in mind is exterior design work for the S650 hasn't started yet.

Personally I think this refresh and it's MCA sketches were meant to tie the Mustang closer to Ford Performance variants, not necessarily lay out a path for the S650.

I would like to see a Bullitt rendering while making the 2018 refresh less busy.

I'm saying that elements in Ford's refresh are an indication of the design language we might see in the S650. Not necessarily the render by MCA.

I think the S650 will be a more dramatically angled looking car. Like we see with the new front with all the sharp angles. Just a guess of course.

The only thing carried over from the S550 cars front end was the headlights. so essentially the front end was designed around the lights. Ford would have to redesign the front end to make sure the previous aero flow is maintained. Not cost effective.
