I've seen alot of aftermarket applications, mostly from American Muscle, calling for a 275 40 19 on a 9.5 front and 285 35 19 on a 10.5. Why wouldn't they suggest a 265 35 19 of the same aspect ratio for the front?

265/35 is about 10mm too narrow for a 9.5 wheel (which is not the end of the world or anything) and also 8 or 9% too short. small.

275/35 (or 275/40) is a correct diameters and 275 is the typical width for a 9.5” wheel. A 265/40 would be fine, but possibly not a very common tire size?

keep in mind the XXX/YYRZZ number, the YY sideqall number is a percentage of the XXX tire width, so a 265/35 is shorter than a 275/35 even tho the YY sidewall number is the same, the sidewall and thus overall tire diameter on the 265/35 is shorter than the sidewall and diameter on the 275/35

A 265 width tire is fine for a 9.5" width wheel. In fact BMW E92 M3's came with a 265/35/19 tire on a 9.5" wheel stock and a 10" wheel with the ZCP package (Competition). In fact Michelin recommends a 9-10.5" wheel width for a 265/35/19.

To the OP I would have an issue with those sizes as the front and rear difference in tire diameters is huge. A 265/35/19 is 26.3" tall a 275/40/19 is over 27.7" that will throw off the stability control in a big way.

That's what I figured, but AM has that 275 listed in their staggered tire set up?

Do not go 275/40/19 in the front and 285/35/19 in the rear. The front tires will be 1" taller than the rears, and will look silly. The stock GT PP1 front tire is a 255/40 on a 9" wide wheel and the rear is 275/40/19 on 9.5" wide wheel. You can put 255/40 on a 9.5" wheel. 295/35/19 in the rear (if available) would match better with a 255/40 or 265/40 on the front. If you go 285/35 in the rear, don't go more than 255/40 in the front.

its not about the width, its the diameter. A 265/35 is 26.3" tall and a bit small in diameter for the car... the stock front wheels 255/40 are 27.1 which is almost an inch taller. Sure you can run a 265 on a 9.5" wheel, but you probably also want to get the diameter in the ballpark.

That's why 275 sizes are more common. Can you run a 265/35? probably ya, but your wheel gap will be significant and it will look small in the wheel well. A 265/40 is a better diameter, or a 275/35.

I have 19x9.5 all around, with 285/35/19 on them. I don't see why it wouldn't fit. but the tires I have are Michelin dsw6

Thanks for all the feedback. One caveat, I'll be running Steeda lowering springs.

Wanted to go with 275 up front but needed tires quickly and all they had. 275/35R19 up next.

275/40/19 on 19x10 offset 35 square is PERFECT.

Maybe. 275/40 is kinda tall for the front. Depends on how low OP is up front or how much they like sidewall. My lowered S197 friend has 275/40 square on 19x9.5 and it’s fine, he likes it because it’s a cheap size with good selection. It’s mostly preference.

I’m inclined to stick closer to the 27 inch diameter or less all around. A smaller rear diameter also gives a slight gearing advantage, where the 2018+ MT cars need all they can get.

For OP, here is a helpful site. https://tiresize.com/calculator/

255/40 on 9.5 is also perfectly suitable and since you have an Ecoboost just peachy as well.

I don't know if it's the angle of this photo or what, but your front tires look like 18" with a really tall sidewall.

For the OP: another thing to keep in mind is a tall front tire raises the center of gravity of the heavy front end, affecting handling somewhat. So it's sort of a double whammy, taller profile (less responsive handling)+higher center of gravity.

That tire size calculator is great, especially the 2 tire comparison. I'm leaning towards 275 35 19 for the front. Thanks
