Recently did my mt82 to 6060 trans swap. Was my first trans swap to something other than factory trans.

I bought mine built from ben calimer and love every second driving. Forget about just the ability to reliably handle more power. I have 3.55 gears and driveability is way up. Smoother shifts, with 8k rpm redline feels like it pulls and pulls forever before i have to shift. Really is amazing drivability difference.

Ben is building a 6060 for our 2017 and one for our customer right now.

Which clutch did you decide to go with?

My decision to go auto with my '15 was based specifically on what Ford was doing with the manual transmission.

I waited until I heard "MT82" - and instantly decided to go automatic.

Ford is crazy for not putting the TR6060 in these cars. As far as I am concerned, the $1195 "option" to go auto.....should be the standard price for both the auto and the TR6060 equipped cars. Much better choice IMO, and they would make more money.

I have a 6060 in my 91 Firebird I will be selling soon. I agree it is a great shifting transmission. I have also had my new GT out on a road course very recently and did not have a complaint with the MT82 either, definetly not enough to think about swapping it out yet.

Guess I need to go for a ride in a shelby, to see what I am missing. I think the MT82 is holding its own so far, may not be the case when I amp it up I suppose.

Just make sure you're road coursing close to home. I was running the road course at auto club speedway when my MT-82 took a dump lol :headbonk:

That is a bummer, thanks for the heads up. What is taking a dump when these go? Is it hard parts, syncros, or shafts? Not against a 6060, just have an extensive list as it is LOL.

Any swap guides for the Tremec Magnum XL? A buddy of mine bought one for a TT 13 GT project, but bought a house instead. This could be a good situation for me.

I don't really know the diff between the 6060 trans and the magnum XL. I do know Ben Calimers pricing on the 6060 is beating the other shops selling the Magnum XL by a lot.

Wrapping up my 6060 swap this week. I have a guide I wrote up and once I work everything out I'll make a post for it. From the feedback I have gotten from the small subset of people who have done the magnum or 6060 swap though I can't wait to be back banging gears!
