Definitely. Removing the front bumper is a pain, mainly because it's time consuming (and also because of these two very well hidden bolts on each side!). Thanks for the suggestion.

I don't understand why you needed to remove the bumper? Put on jack stands Take the wheels off and spend 2 minutes to take the plastic inner well liners off and you have full access to the wiring.
I didn't remove the bumper again to swap the wiring over and tape the connectors (I removed the horizontal cover underneath - which just gave me enough room). If I still have problems with the connectors, I will give your method a go in preference to removing the bumper again - thanks.

Hey just to inform those who do not know already. When you take your bumper off you needed to disconnect the air bag and bonnet deployment sensor loom connecter on the drivers side.

The CANbus (Computer Access Network) is permenantly positive charged and when you disconnect the sensor plug it generates an error code that can only be detected by the port terminal interface. You need to have the error code cleared but the main point is that when the mechanic tells you a problem with the airbag system has been registered you will know why.
Ah - is that what that extra cable was! I haven't noticed any errors popping-up. Maybe I should get my ODBLink gadget out and have a peek?

do you have to remove the bumper to upgrade DRL's
Yes, you need to remove the lights which means bumper must come off. But its not as bad as some say so long as you remove the wheels and inner plastic well liners its much easier. Even the hidden bolts are no longer a problem.:headbang:

Yes, because you need to get the headlights out to install the DRLs - and you can't get the headlights out without removing the bumper.

Yes, you will not see it as a dash error. Only via an ODB interface.

It feeds three sensors. Two for airbag crash impact and one for pedestrian impact which deploys the bonnet hinge breakaway mechanism.

Yes it's that stupid pedestrian protection sensor :D you can see some pictures in my bumper removal guide
http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38279
I was at the Ford parts distribution centre and the guy looked up the sensors and it stated the two outside ones are for airbag deployment and the centre one for bonnet release. He showed me on screen. But it doesnt make sense as its one feed. I am now thinking the sensors mounted under the radiator cover are airbag deployment and all three bumper sensors are pedestrian bonnet release?

Check my edited post... I did see his screen and it did note two airbag and centre for bonnet release but it still doesnt make sense as the bumper sensors are on one string.

Hi all
has anyone found an installer in Sydney as I am not comfortable in installing myself?
I am happy to pay someone to do it. An installer in SA says it takes 12 hours?
Thoughts
thanks
