I've read some conflicting information about Mustang brakes. Here's what I think I know: I have upgraded brakes, called premium. I think they are Brembo 4 piston calipers. They don't say Brembo anywhere I can see but I read that if they aren't "base" brakes they are either 4 piston or 6 piston Brembo's, the latter being red in color and displaying the Brembo logo.

My goal is to upgrade further. Without spending several thousand dollars. What rotor/caliper kits are you guys having good results with? I know there are several brands out there. And I've read good and bad about all of them (yes I did search quite a bit).

The car is being refit with a full Steeda system. Progressive springs, a full set of struts and camber plates, bump stops, dust covers, etc.

Where do I go for brakes? I appreciate your replies. Thank you.

What is the planned usage for the car? I'm not a brakes expert, but I assume people will want that information to help advise you.

Good point. It's a toy. I intend to visit some of the Central FL events where I can get some track time, solo-autocross, etc. I was born and raised in Daytona and the 24-hours has always been my favorite race. So it's a dream to drive my own car around the track.

I own a Contracting Firm and consequently I drive a company truck 95% of the time. But I want to be able to go get dinner too. I don't want or need a full-race setup.

Thanks!

edit: I believe the PP brakes are a 6 piston setup, so it sounds like you have the regular GT brakes. Someone please correct me if im wrong.

Ford Racing Performance sells a PP brake upgrade kit, p/n M-2300-V which might be what you're after.

There are 6-pot kits of various colors at both LMR and Levittown.

thats way cheaper than the FRP package-what gives? that's tempting.
Don't forget that the kits at LMR still need brake lines while the kits at Levittown don't.

Just an example of it being cheaper to piece a kit together vs buying the kit. It happens sometimes.

Right, but not needed for the GT iirc.

Reached out to LMR and they let me know they are generic rotors not OEM ford rotors.

Not an issue whatsoever, a rotor is a rotor in my experience but explains the cheaper cost

Are there any other manufacturers that are as respected as Brembo?

You have the base brakes. They are made by Continental. There are lots of other brake companies that are respectful, willwood, APRacing, stoptech are the ones I’d look at. But the PP brakes from the factory are just as good as any of those. Just but the ford performance upgrade kit :like:

sure, or buy the calipers in gloss black or orange from Levvittown or RockAuto.

As you surmised, your 'premium' has nothing to do with the brakes.

I'm not sure of that. I read somewhere that the 2022 came with 3 different brake options. Standard, 4 piston Brembo, and 6 piston. This of course could be BS...

There were pictures of the calipers and I determined mine were in the "middle".
