Just wondering where everyone is going to be taking their new 2015 for regular maintenance, I don't know if i trust the dealer to take it there ?

Dealer, absolutely. I've learned my lesson getting repairs done cheaply; they break again. Oil changes and whatnot you can do yourself or at Jiffy Lube or whatever, but for serious repairs, nobody knows a Ford better than a Ford mechanic.

As Brent302 said, I will be maintaining mine at the local garage. And by local garage, I mean my garage.

Does Ford have free maintenance for any amount of time? Many of my previous cars (all Japanese) came with 2-3 years of free maintenance.

I got free oil changes for life with the deal with my car. YMMV with different dealers.

Ditto, my garage.

Just changed the oil in my GTO today. Have had it for 10 years and have done EVERY oil change myself. I keep my own maintenance records as well. For kicks I counted how many oil changes I've done and I'm up to 24 on the GTO. :) I could probably do it in my sleep with a blindfold on. At this point if I wanted to I could probably beat the Quick Lube places in time (if I hurried) and that is in my driveway on ramps.

I never have to worry about the monkeys at the quickie lube places screwing something up.

My advice to the OP:

Learn to do basic maintenance yourself. Yes it takes time and patience and a willingness to spend a little money as well. But the benefits and that "bonding" you get with your vehicle are amazing. I do understand some people don't have a garage or a workspace, but just changing your own oil only takes a pair of ramps, an oil collector, a wrench with one or two sockets and maybe an oil filter wrench. You could store all that in a closet. And again you won't have to worry about other peoples mistakes. :)

I see you live in Illinois. If you were in southern Illinois I'd gladly share the little maintenance knowledge I know or show you how to do some of the basics. Go online as well. There are a plethora of how-to videos on everything out there. Learn a little at a time and soon you want to do more. Nothing like knowing how your vehicle works and knowing that YOU are part of what keeps it running in top shape. :)

With the absence of a suitable place to work, I've taken my current Mustang and the last 2 before it, to a Ford dealer service department that I trust. Of course, finding a place that you trust is tricky sometimes.

Doing oil changes, tire rotations, and filter replacements are doable, but the Mustangs after the 2010 model year have an undertray that has to be swung down in order to access the filter location. The 2015 will have this too. There might be other who have done this by using jack stands or they find they have enough clearance to get at the oil filter.

I did the most maintenance on my 1994 GT (good old 302), a little less on my 1996 Cobra, a little less on my 2000 GT, and then turned it over to my dealership.

You are going to need a dealer if your car requires warranty work, so in my opinion, it is useful to find one you'd trust with an oil change.

What is the size and weight of the current under tray? I have to take off a skid plate to access the pan & filter on my GTO. It weighed about 15 pounds and then I bought a lightweight 5 pound aluminum one to replace the original steel one. I'm assuming it is held on by a few bolts?

I am not sure of the weight, but it's plastic. Yes, held on by easy-to-remove bolts. I believe that hardest thing is to move it around because of the size, since it covers the entirety of the front end up to around the area of the filter.

In the Deep Impact Blue thread, you can get an idea of this with one of the undercarriage photo. It's similar to the current cars.

Thanks for sharing. A pain to take off at each oil change for sure but entirely manageable it looks like.

This because of mods. Most shops won't work on a zero emissions controlled car, but we have a dealer in town who works on performance oriented mustangs (Skillman) but I don't buy from them so haven't looked into it. They have a Dyno in the race shop/toy box but only let certain customers use it. I'll take it there when I have an issue I can't handle or for alignments and tire install but got most of the shop tools now. I'm building a house and putting a pole barn in. Looking at some used Titan and Rotary 2 post lifts at a bankrupted dealership next week so hoping to fetch a relativity new 12.000lb 2 post lift for about $500.00. Fingers crossed.

You've got to spend hours of looking at everything :) Seriously, there is a lot of information and photos in some of the bigger threads.
