Does anyone know what the changes are in PCM mapping strategies and factory tune from the 2015-2017 vs the 2018’s?

Also, does the 2018 factory tune now come close to the Ford Performance tune that is available for the 2015-2017 (and could possibly be another reason why a 2018 tune is not yet available)?

I'd like to see dyno runs comparing a bone stock 15-17 to a stock 18. The bump in peak tq is nice, but it would be interesting to see if they made any improvements in power above 5K rpms, as they did with the FP tune.

I have a copy of the stock tune if you would like it. The only tuner that currently supports the 2018 EB is the N-gauge with the E-Motion ver. 259 firmware, The Lund firmware does not support it and Cobb doesn't have support yet either. I will be going in for tuning this next week and can provide any additional info I gather.

HP Tuners has support for the '18 Mustangs, both GT and EcoBoost.

Correct I should have been a little clearer when I posted that. The HP Tuners N-Gauge works along with their VCM Suite on the 2018 EB Mustang.

Currently nobody has tuned a 18 yet. Whether it's OTS maps or otherwise. Little surprised Lund hasn't yet since he's already tuned multiple 10 speed gt cars. I can't imagine that the motor is any different to tune.

I got denied from a highly recommended shoo because the GT and eco maps are so different. He told me literally that the head tuner was currently getting trained on everything about the eco. They had 3 GT's in there of at least 2015.

That to say there's definitely differences

I just picked up an 18 and started tuning it. I have a couple baseline pulls and some tuning work.

Car has 200 miles on it. Id assume 93 octane but cant be 100% certain.

Completely stock was 238hp/301tq.

Currently 283hp/332tq.

pics are on my facebook. Adding exhaust and intercooler this week. 10spd is freaking amazing. Just switched from a 630hp ctsv with the 6l90. This trans makes that trans feel like a joke.

238 seems really low.. I thought the 15-17 was getting 275 at least whp.

The car shifts at 5750 which you can see in the graph when it pulls throttle and timing at 5700 as it expects a shift to happen. Even in sport mode with the paddles engaged, it would shift at that 5750 rpm.

Trans tuning is a must. I spent most of my time bouncing back and forth betwern engine and trans torque limits to have huge gains at the 5800 rpm range and it still wants to pull it down at 6k. Still working through the limiters.

Do you have any suspicion that the engine internals are the same or have they been beefed up?

Ecu is the only difference that I could tell/know of. Plan to to go as fast as possible on stock block. It will be pushed very hard but until I get to the point it blows, then we are just guessing lol.

Can you clarify the bolded part of your original response?

When in (S) and the Driver has taken control via the paddles (paddles engaged), the car isn’t going to shift up (or down) until the Driver manually blips the chosen paddle. Essentially, if speaking only of the upshift, the Driver can redline the engine and bounce off the rev limiter if he/she does not manually shift into the next gear. Doesn’t that contradict the bold part of the response, thus timing and throttle is not being affected in this instance by a specific mapped protocol?

Unless, I’m totally missing something in or misinterpreting the overall comment? School me...

Yes, the 10R80 is pretty damn awesome, in auto (D) or Sport (S) modes, and it really hits hard when in (S) or Drag mode - it exceeds the performance capabilities of the 6R80 in every way.
