Because I haven't purchased it yet :p
You're misunderstanding.

OTD includes registration/tax
Purchase price is the price you actually paid for the car before variable expenses like registration and tax.

If thats the case then my purchase price was 36,600 before taxes and registration

Yep, definitely misunderstood.

Tax and title is around 2300, so purchase price would be like 35.1ish?

Why does everyone always list OTD instead of purchase price?
Because with a price, of anything, I want to know exactly what I need to pay to get the item in my hands. It's irrelevant to me if that money's going to the dealer or the government. And knowing the OTD price in advance can help in negotiations.

And it's irrelevant in a price comparison thread to post what you paid your state for taxes.

Right, OTD needs to be with a breakdown. Those of you who pay state tax are lucky, they only get you once. Here in SC sales tax is capped at $300, but every year they tax you on a depreciating asset. Conservative state, my ass!

Pd 40,800, msrp right at 43,000, so not much of a deal, I didn't buy straight off the lot though, ordered it end of September and took till New Year's Day to get it, which was the longest wait ever! Paid like 670 for my taxes, located in NC

What do you guys think about 37.4 OTD for a GT premium with reverse sense, voice activated nav, and PP?

550 more to have it shipped 1400 miles.
That looks like a good deal even with shipping. Best I've seen local in Houston GT prem pp rev nav. msrp 40880 -4560 dealer discount -500 ford offer=35820
+2293 (6.25% tax)+ 900 delivery+ 98 ( title, registration , plate)= $39056

invoice pricing----gt prem 33487+rev264+pp2227+nav710=36680 +(ttl+del)3291=$39971

Best del I've been offered same car GT prem w/pp/rev/nav OTD was $38700 for one that was on the lot. one the dealer had order allready GT prem w/401a/pp/rev/nav OTD $40500

Wait...WHAT?!

Maybe I should just wait for the 17s to come out to get a 2016.

well yes, after 5 car purchase in the past 5 years I've learned that if u want to get the upmost best deal you need to purchase it on Jan, and get the year model before and the color that no ones wants.

So a 2015 that had been on the lot a while, dealer was probably paying interest on so he/she gave you his incentive and everything. I'm surprised you didn't take their lunch money also

How do you approach the negotiation?
