Sweet the 2017 threads are starting already. Wasn't there 100's of posts on here about how the 2016MY supposed to get a huge update?

Depending on sales, I think a refresh is due MY18. I suspect some drivetrain/performance upgrades in 2017. Sales are a big factor though. If it's selling close to 20,000 a month worldwide, they won't touch anything. Even then, a refresh has already been designed and approved, they just need to green light.

Details on MY17 should be announced Q1 2016. I'd save some more $$$ and wait...

Things that will likely be improved on?

Port Injection to Direct or PDI
Some of the EU GT's Weight Reduction (Some GT350 Weight savings too)
Output Increases
New Colors (Grabber Blue?)
MagnaRide option on the GT
10 Speed Auto
A possible Competition GT Package (resurrection of the 2005 Mustang GTR)

Although, the MSRP will likely increase so... If you buy now you would probably be very happy. If you wait to buy, you will probably be very happy... Either way you'll probably be very happy.

My guess is a special 2017 Bullit since 1967-2017 would be another 50 year commemorative version.
The movie was released in 1968 and the car is a 1968 Mustang, so some have speculated 2018 for a commemorative version.

I would be very interested in a new Mach 1.

Are y'all forgetting about the new 5.2L Voodoo engine?? Flat plane crak, 500hp, tons of torque, revs to 8grand?? Should be available for the 2017's for sure. May even see Crate engines next spring/summer???

I could see a mild refresh by 2017. There was a refresh in 2013 just 2.5 years after the 11' 5.0 was released with a small bump in power(8hp) and different front/rear look.
It would be interesting to see the 10 speed auto and direct injection but wouldn't expect that by 17'.

With the Gov"t adding more CAFE standards, the biggest REFRESH might be NO V8, and more ECO BOOST engines, look what happened in 1973 in the blink of an eye, history always repeats, so don"t get to excited about the refresh, and enjoy what you have now!

That set up got a gas guzzler tax, which practically eliminates it as a mainstream GT IMO.

Well considering the 10 speed will be in the Raptor in the '17/F-150 there is a good bet you'll see the 10 speed in the Mustang also. They need to counter the 8 speed transmission and waiting till MY '18 is too long. Plus CAFE and other things kick in in '17 so it's the perfect time for it. I'm sure they are already testing the 10 and have been for a while.

Probably will see a minor sheet metal modification in say front end. 3rd year is usually the minor refresh of looks with most cars with 6th being new vehicle again.

PP on the auto maybe. New option of a track package with the magnetic set up. Then again it could just be an option because the S3 has it and people love that on the car, even for a DD.

Maybe HP bump and new color.

'17 will definitely have something considered to leap the Camaro and I think that it's going to be that 10 speed transmission and prob a 7 speed in the manual.

I've been looking at MY17 as a potential year to upgrade, and if the 10-speed is in and grabber blue returns I will be in the dealer ASAP to order.

10-speed is probably a guarantee as others have mentioned, considering the F150 is getting it, but grabber blue would be a pretty awesome bonus.

I don't think you'll see a general refresh next year. Maybe 18 or more likely 19.

I do think you'll see new models (Mach 1? Boss? Who knows, but something.) Maybe a new color or two, or interior color (Hello, gray?)

Might maybe see a small HP bump. Probably will see the 10-speed AT before long. I wish they would do a 2,7 EB V6. Don't think they will any time soon.

Refresh 2018 , probable. I bought the 2010 GT , it was a refresh year with the 3 V still there. You are all talking 2017/18 for changes. I go even further . Ford no doubt is working on Gen 7 , say 2020/21. Usually 5-6 years from concept to production. Can we really talk about the 55 Th Anniversary now. Yes, we can. Will the V8 GT still be there? Will ecoboost V 6 eventually carry the muscle car flag ? :headbang:

I will be following this thread with interest - I'm planning on ordering a 2016 GT in the fall, but I'm wondering if I should wait until hearing what the MY2017 will be before doing so (would be a long and painful wait).

Given that Ford is using the 3.5-liter Ecoboost V6 in the new 2017 Raptor and Ford GT, it seems likely to me that it will end up in the Mustang, but no one seems to be talking about it. Any reason for that? The 2.7-liter Ecoboost V6 from the F150 doesn't seem sufficiently different from the existing 2.3-liter I4, but the 3.5-liter would be, and would have power output competitive with the 5.0 in the GT.

A turbo is very appealing to me, living at 7,000 feet in Colorado - naturally-aspirated cars are down about 25% in power up here. But I don't want a four-cylinder. An Ecoboost V6 would be a very appealing option.
