I understand the value difference between a stock 350 and a stock 350R. However, being a retired club racer (M3), I have to laugh at those of you that really think a stock 350 can't compete on the track with a 350R. Very simple mods are needed.
Lol........................... “stock” + “very simple mods” = stock. Lol.................

Oh my... stop.

Sorry to offend all you legends in your own minds. Fact remains that 99% of you couldn't tell the diference on track between a stock 350R and a 350 with Cup 2s and an alignment.
Didn’t have to... I could tell a difference in the parking lot just by looking at them.

Billy’s time differences was down to tires are a bit better aero. All things that can be remedied on a GT350

someone else mentioned a higher ride height and softer springs in the GT350. Ride height is due to 35 series vs 30 series tires. R SPEC are .5” diameter smaller. The springs are the same in front on both. The rear gets a bit stiffer spring ad sway bar due to a bit wider tire and more downforce with the aero. FP spring upgrade takes care of that for a couple hundred bucks and is an improvement over the R spring.
If I tell you that your GT350 is as good as an R, will you go back to on topic?

Once again, terrible posting by this dealership. No mention of it being a base and why that is so unique to these cars. Only 1 picture where you can easily identify that it's a base and it's buried in the pics. No wonder why it's been sitting for so long.

Now is a great time to buy a base because most people still have no clue why their different and special.

Repost of an interview with Shelby American Inc. President, recalling a conversation with Billy Johnson over the differences:

“I said is the 350R really that much different? He goes “Yah”. I said, “So, can you quantify it?” He says “5 seconds at VIR.” “So where’s the time?” No more power: Tires, wheels, aero. The tires are worth 2 seconds. The aero is worth 2 seconds—wing in the back, less top speed, but better downforce; air damn in the front. The wheels are worth a second. I said “why?” Rotating mass, less unsprung weight, its also less flex. An aluminum wheel will actually bend a little more, that carbon wheel is very strong so you don’t get the flex and less rotating mass, so its worth a full second at VIR.”

Now back on topic.

Dealer has had this car sitting for at least 2+ years, probably why they reached out to Mecum.
One of the very interesting aspects about this Base R is the trunk tray that is shown in the trunk area of the car which only shows on their website.

Over the years I have looked at a great deal of Base R's and have owned 3 of them and none of the Base R's that I have looked at ever came with either a trunk tray, trunk liner or a tire inflator kit.

I am hoping to look at this car in person and it will be very interesting to see what sits underneath the present trunk tray if anything?

I cannot image the original owner modifying the trunk area during his ownership therefore suggest that this car started off it's life as an Electronics Package car but somewhere along the way the build order was changed to assemble it as a Base R.

Or maybe the FRAP or Mod Shop just plain screwed up!!:giggle:

This is how the trunk area should look on a Base R.
