Dunno. I do have a base GT which is a lot lighter then the Premium GT. In town for me is around 16-18 mpg.
There shouldn't be that large a weight difference between the cars, maybe the weight of one small person. I think I'll take a video of a pull away from a light or stop sign so people see what I mean. Sadly it may be a week before I can do so, the weather has decided to be bipolar in my area.

If I was 20 years younger my main complaint would be bad mpg because my foot loved to go all the way too often.

My '85 LX 5.0 Coupe weighed in at 2800 lbs and averaged 13 mpg, I knew it could do better but I could never stay easy on it through an entire tank. :D

My car tipped the scales at 3580lbs (without my 190lb ass in it). My old 71 440 Roadrunner with about the same horsepower as my GT has now on it's best day at 50mph got mabey 5mpg

This is what ive been saying to all the people who are getting the ecoboost for the mpg, because the coyote is just as fuel efficient as the ecoboost! I get 25 mpg regularly.
I bought my '16 last April with a little over 6000 miles. I set the trip #2 at that time. My commute is 92 mile round trip in Denver Colorado. All highway, but at least 10 miles each way is heavy stop & go traffic. 26.9 MPG for almost 20,000 miles of driving.

Before this job I would drive to Denver Airport (5350' elevation) from Larkspur (6850' elevation) and get 31 MPG. The reverse would be around 25 MPG. It was all highway with no stop & go.

It's actually 27.0 now. Around 13,000 miles. Average speed is around 38 MPH.

I got 33.6 mpg on my last long run. But I think our gallons in the UK are bigger than yours ;)

Perhaps some knowledgeable guy can confirm that :)

He's probably the only person on the forum, or even this planet, that tries to hypermile a GT

I can understand if these threads were started by a person with an Ecoboost, but if you own a V8, who cares? It's like a Prius owner running the 1/4 mile. It's like Ben Stiller going Simple Jack. Just stop.

Btw, your GT isn't going to get just 1-2 mpg less with combined city and highway. Think 5 mpg less. If you can get 30 mpg in a GT, you are driving wrong. Simple as that.
I started the thread because I was shocked by the good mpg I was getting on a brand new car with an automatic, 3:55 gears and 460 hp. By the way, 10 years ago on another Mustang forum a bunch of Prius owners jumped in the say from 0 to 10 they were faster than a Mustang GT, the hilarity of their arguments took up a good 60 pages, I have no clue if it's still there.

I digress.

MPG was not the factor when buying the car, I don't need people chiming in to explain to me the dynamics of GT ownership. :p

Everybody has a reason why they chose their car, people don't have to like or understand them.

In heavy traffic I try to get the best mpg because there is no spirited driving possible. So why not try and save some of the gas in the tank for when somebody in a Camaro SS or what have you is next to you at a light with no traffic so you can have some fun, or not if the guy is an asshat revving the crap out of the engine letting any cop within a 1/4 mile know something is going down.

Also, Premium is 3.90 a gallon by me and considered expensive, can I use 87 yes, I choose not to but now I'll probably hear about how I bought a Premium GT so who cares about the cost of gas, my response, I do. I'm not 25 anymore, I don't feel like racing every car that ends up next to me, I enjoy the drive which doesn't require flooring it or revving the crap out of it.

I over explained.... :D

I'll get mine weighed when I go to Byron or Union Grove this Spring, oh wait it is Spring, the snow we got last night threw me off. :eyebulge:

My 1969 SS 396 Chevelle was like your Mopar, on a good day 10mpg but I never drove it the way I drive this Mustang.

$3.90/gal? That's a bargain, I'm paying $5.00/gal in my neck of the woods lol.
Everything else you said, bingo.

Quote - UK Gallons. ... The U.S. liquid gallon and the U.S. dry gallon are different units defined by different means. The U.S. liquid gallon is defined as 231 cubic inches and equates to approximately 3.785 litres. One imperial gallon is equivalent to approximately 1.2 U.S. liquid gallons.

What size tank does yours have?

:eyebulge: DAYUM!! I can get 100 octane I believe for that. Back when I supercharged my 2006 Mustang GT in early 2007 gas was around $1.60 and 100 octane was about $3.50, with the race tune it required 100 octane and I was shocked at how much I had to pay.

Now it's 2018 and friggin 93 octane is $3.90, I plan on a 3 liter Whipple but I believe I'll be able to have a similar configuration for 93 and 100 octane tunes.

Ive had my 2017 GT PP (3.73s) for 15 months and 10800 miles (purchased new) and can count on one hand the number of times I have cracked 200 miles on a single tank (14.2-14.8 gallons).

I have an 8 mile round trip commute to work, and do 90-95 percent all city driving (inner loop in Houston).

My 'trip 2' computer hasnt been reset since I purchased the car and the average mpg is 14.8 which aligns with the EPA estimate of 15 city.

Those getting close to 30 MUST be doing majority highway driving and lots of coasting downhill with a tailwind.

I'll know more over time, I have no doubt in my area hwy mpg will be awful. On Chicago highways if you're not doing 80 you're getting buzzed by those that are so I keep up.

Just took a road trip to DC from Pittsburgh. Was able to get 28 MPG trying my best to save fuel. Was a little bit more spirited on the way back on open stretches of road and averaged ~25 mpg. But usually I only get ~17 for regular driving and I usually try to reach red line when possible.

Yours is a premium with 20" wheels so its gonna be a good bit heavier but my base GT with wheels a few lbs lighter then stock weighed 3625 with only a couple of gals of gas in it.

I'm going to find out as soon as I can, if I recall the weight is just over 3700 per the dealer but I'll know better when I get to the drag strip. How does the car feel with the parts, tune and E85?
