Take it back and get the hood it's supposed to come with

you're going to need the extra cooling

I have HUGE doubts those tiny vents have more to do with cooling than aesthetics. They probably let a tiny bit of heat out. More likely escapes from the air flow from around and under the engine than above being let out those tiny slits. After all, the Eco has a turbo which turbos run very very hot and does fine without hood vents.

I wish mine came without vents, the flat hood looks better IMO.

Wow, I'd be going back to get the correct hood. If you don't like the vents then keep it the way it is.

Oh hell, I dunno. If you like it, keep it that way. If not, the dealership would be 100% compelled to put the correct hood on it, no discussion one way or another.

I agree. I tried to find someone to swap hoods with me in the beginning. In addition to not looking as good, on the 2016s you can only see one of the turn indicators because of the raised center of the hood which was like a waving sign saying "bad engineering". But I got past that when I installed a dash cam that shows both indicators and is proof of signals being on/off should that matter. So I apologize to the engineer who obviously only added the indicators for dash cam use. ;)

I'm gonna say 100% they do nothing, since the 16's have a light bulb and lens in there and the engine heat shield covers them from underneath.

Personally I think they look much cooler than flat. To each his own.

Sounds like mis-built unit to me.

IDK I'd rather have the factory paint job and a base model hood than have the correct GT hood and a body shop paint job...

Why is everyone assuming build issue instead of the dealer making another customer happy by swapping in a GT hood for the other guy? They probably just hoped whoever picked up this one didn't notice/care.

The paint looks to still be on the hinge bolts so I'd say it came that way.
