The Multimatic Motorsports and Ford Performance #15 and #158 Shelby GT350R-C Mustangs dominated Lime Rock in the IMSA Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race yesterday by nabbing the top two spots.
After a disappointing next-to-last qualifying run, the #15 GT350R-C co-driven by Billy Johnson and Scott Maxwell ended the race day with a very impressive victory especially considering the Multimatic team built the race car anew from a body-in-white GT350 within a week after the original #15 car was totaled in a crash at Mosport.
Not to be overshadowed, the #158 GT350R-C piloted by Austin Cindric and Jade Buford nearly scored its second straight victory and ended the race in a nail biter of a finish for second place in which it edged out both the #14 Nissan 370Z and the #6 Chevy Camaro Z/28.R.
Congratulations to Multimatic and Ford Performance — this even in spite of the new 50-pounds added weight adjustment imposed on the team.
