Hi Folks. This is my first post on this forum. Anyways, I'm interested in buying a new Mustang GT, and am wondering about your opinions on pricing with the Z-Plan (two retirees in the family) vs. the "internet pricing" you see on every dealer's website.

A few days ago, I test drove a base '16 GT with one option, the automatic transmission. MSRP: $34,490. A/Z Plan pricing is $31,443.80 (I took a copy of the invoice home). Ford is also offering $750 cash back, and $1,000 for veterans (Semper Fi!). So, minus the extra $1750, the total price before TTL is $29,693.80.

I see a car equipped the exact same way (same MSRP and color) at Koons, with an internet "Wow Price" of $28,681.00. Are these kind of quoted internet prices legit? Are there caveats in terms of financing with the dealership, or having to qualify for multiple rebates?

Would a dealer like Koons knock anything off additional off the Z-Plan price? I've always heard that the A/Z Plan deal can't be beat, and now I'm not sure.

I also worry that going with the Z-Plan might preclude me from taking advantage of any end-of-year cash back deals as the '17s start rolling onto the lots. In that case, I think the Z-Plan provides price parity between the '16s and '17s.

This is an issue, because I'm most interested in Guard and Deep Impact Blue cars, two of the three colors that aren't coming back for 2017. And as a I understand it, the '16s ceased production earlier this month, so I'd like to move before the end of the month.

Off topic, I'm surprised Koons comes up so much in these forums. I've been there numerous times getting my cars serviced, and never thought much of their work or their sales efforts.

Thanks for your help, all of you. Any info would be much appreciated.

Usually the internet "wow" prices are with all the rebates possible added in, so almost no one would qualify. There's $500 recent college grad and $500 First responder and the military discount and on and on. If you dig around you can usually find where they list all the rebates. So you can add back in all the ones you wouldn't qualify for.
My Grandpa worked for Ford so I've had A/Z plan all my life and there was one time we thought we could beat the price but it turned out that the dealer forgot to include some rebates we were eligible for. Thankfully the regional rep happened to be in that day.
I'm not saying it will never happen in the future, but I've never seen it so far that a dealer could (or would) beat A/Z plan.

The nice part about the A/Z plan is its good at any dealer so since you want a couple of specific colors, if you find a car at some little dealer that generally doesn't offer deep discounting, you get the car at the same plan price.

If I'm not mistaken, A/Z plans limit the junk fee / added dealer profit fee the dealers can charge as well.

Agreed. Go with the AZ, "internet price" is full of hidden costs.

Add $900 destination charge plus $300 MD processing to the "WOW" price which will bring the price to $29,881. subtract your 1750 from that.

internet price as said before is just to get you in the door. Z-plan would be better because you don't pay freight and the processing fee is cut down (or some dealers wont charge at all)
