Has anyone noticed how many 14/15 z/28's are going up for sale following the release of the recent driver's reviews of the GT350? If you go over to Camaro5/6, you will see multiple people posting for sale ads for their cars. In fact, there is an entire thread asking if anyone is actually buying z/28's!

Of course, in typical fashion for those sites, of all the reasons given why they are not selling new and why folks are getting rid of the ones they bought, they omit the elephant in the room; the fact that there is a better track-intent pony car on the market for less money than you would pay for GM's track-specific Camaro.

If you thought the discounts GM offered to the z/28's $75K MSRP in the past were crazy, I think you'll be amazed at what you will be able to pick on up for in the next couple of months.

Not only does it look like the GT350R is going to own the z/28 on the track, it's already showing it is going to own it in the showrooms, as well.

I think the z/28 is one bad ass looking car.

It loses to the gt350 in every compartment though, looks, performance, and price :ford:

Is there any conclusive data on the GT350 really being faster than the Z28? I haven't really been keeping up, so I might have missed something.

Haven't seen any official numbers, but the rumor is that the 350 beat the z/28 by 6 seconds(which is a huge time gap). Which is in corvette territory. Chevy boys don't seem to deny it either so I'm guessing it's true.

There's some vital info missing from your post, big guy...

I believe it was 5 seconds actually.

The big source which is semi-cred worthy, is EVO.
I believe it rumored a lap time of 7:32:19

All this taking place on the burg.

Who cares about the corvette, the gt350 is on the tail of the GT3.

I repeat....FORD does not post RING times. They have stated that over and over. End of discussion :D

I agree, z/28 does look like ass.

And the 6-7 seconds faster than the z/28 is based on the recent Laguna Seca information where the GT350R is running in the "low" 1:30's. Once instrumented testing is done by all the magazines, then we'll have some actual and documented numbers to compare.

it has an engine!
Are you guys talking about this?

http://blog.caranddriver.com/ring-a-ding-ding-gt350r-allegedly-pokes-hole-in-z28s-nurburgring-time/

I'm pretty sure that was already confirmed as bogus ages ago. I am almost positive that the GT350 will not be that fast... but that's cool if it is. I think if it was the truth (and it happened with the car in factory form), Ford would more than happily own up to it.
Look like a legit time to me https://nurburgringlaptimes.com/lap-times-top-100/

Legit means confirmed by Ford and confirmed to be factory spec.

There is also a lot of shadiness behind the original source of the lap time:

http://jalopnik.com/did-the-ford-shelby-gt350r-really-just-destroy-the-z-28-1681840116

I want to believe it, but it is BS to me until Ford says otherwise, or we get a video.

Besides which, judging the quality of cars by Ring times is a practice for magazine racers. Too many variables, and none of us are ever going to be capable of getting those times.

Oh. Ill just go over here. :kickrock:
See my edit. ;) I think there's more to it than that, too, but yeah... I'm still highly skeptical of that time.
