Yup, I think the battery may be sub-optimal

My daughter's 2016 Ford Fusion SE: Smoke/steam/hydrogen sulfide spewing out, hot as the surface of the sun to touch, the smell of a bunch of folks digesting tacos and boiled eggs, intermittent dashboard outages, 8 volts, yup, that is an ex-battery, pining for the fjords. Now disconnected and parked outside awaiting a new battery. The one failing had a strong 6 year run, so no complaints there.
