Okay, so first thought would be that I let a bearing fall and drop into my fan. I don't think so, I had it off for a couple of days (haven't touched a bearing in months maybe years for something that size) and its been sitting next to my air intake on the garage floor. Also problem with that is it's wedged in there, gravity didn't do it. Second thought is Ford put it there to balance a problem fan, is this really why it's there? Just caught me off guard so I'd thought I'd post to see if its just an anomaly or what?

That side looks like it faces the radiator. How would a ball bearing get in there would be impossible.
I think it's for balancing.

Sounds good to me. Just wasn't expecting to see something like that. Good concept (I mean having that groove that fits a ball bearing on purpose) if that's what it's for. Thanks.
