Thank you Philip. No, didn't post a thread about it. But it worked out about as good as it could have I guess, insurance ended up paying out the same amount I paid for the car.

No, I am not like the sociopath guy in Nightcrawler, lol. But I am always keen to see what level of damage leads to insurance Total write-off. Or to learn if there is any level of influence that the car owner has on the chance of having his car Totaled.

I wish I had some photos to upload but the entire rear end was pretty much destroyed. Body shop said the tail lights, bumpers, glass and body panels added up very quickly.

I really wasn't able to influence whether the car would be deemed a total loss or not, but in terms of negotiating payoff amount, I was able to get +$2k added after going back about the value of the performance package yada yada

When I ordered my car, I sent the insurance company a copy of the invoice, so they had the actual purchase price of the car, and calculated my coverage accordingly. They also cover +$1.5k in add-ons, but I have exceeded that already.

Getting rear ended is a very real possibility these days for the obvious reason.
