THis is me guessing, but what about tapping the (i think.. purple wire) that is used for the illuminated sill plates. Passenger footwell kick panel.

Having that run a relay that should be able to continuously power multiple circuits like theses. That should provide continuous lighting along the lines of having open doors or dome lighting on... I think.
I believe that's what I had hooked up originally. For some reason, the door sills had no issues when wired up by themselves. I got the sills from Blue Oval Industries that came with their wiring kit. I have yet to mess with the lighting again. It's still wired to the parking lights.

Installing a basic relay would remove the trouble potential trouble of piggybacking an extensive load on that one singe connection.

Im sourcing out all the bits and pieces to do an LED lighting solution for my base GT, and here is what I see I'll use.

1. Tap sill power
2. Sill power to 30A relay
3. relay to 4 post power distribution block
4. Power from Battery to relay

This should give me all the safety that I need, plus allow me to have all my lights acting exactly like the dome and "open door/unlock car/dome light" functions. I hope, unless there is something wonky that may screw with this setup.

Part of the problem may be that the dome and open door function work in a "fade" function... and some LED's dont support that well. So far my Diode Dynamics light upgrade has worked flawlessly, but will see how that works with footwell, cup holder, and who knows how much more light.

I am using relays in my setup. The problem I am facing with the dimming is how the relay reacts to it. It chatters, so to speak. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Are you using a quality BOSCH relay? Others may not perform as well. The difference of a couple dollars could make a night and day difference.

On another car, I was tracking down an ABS short for weeks. Replaced sensor after sensor multiple times. In the end I ended up replacing one main switch with a "premium" bosch part and the whole problem went away.

Buying "name brand" isnt always the solutions, as sometimes you're just wasting money. In this case that may be a solution.

YMMV

I'm not sure even a name brand relay would solve the issue. Relays don't typically like that kind of chatter. I am using Bosch style 30A relays. Tried more than one. They all didn't like the chatter.

This concerns me as this is almost the identical setup I plan on using. I've never seen relays misbehaving this way, but I can understand as a relay is an ON/OFF curcuit and not a variable voltage circuit, as this is what the fade does.

Hmmmm...

Yeah, I could honestly care less if my ambient light dims off. I just want it to be able to turn on with the dome light. I'd like to find a source for the lighting that comes on with the dome but is not part of the dimming circuit.
