May be obvious answer or maybe I'm just still learning, so help me out here. A few days ago I washed, clayed (for the first time), polished, and sealed my car all with chemical guy products. We had some fog the next day and then rain the following. My car is pretty dirty already, I figured by going through those steps I would have created a better barrier against the elements. So is this just normal since I have a black car and all the dirt will just show up more or do I have poor technique? Thanks for any tips. Two bucket method was used.

Oh, the joys of having a black car!

It only looks good the first 5 minutes that it is clean...

2)Unless you used a actual coating like Second Skin for CGs, or Sonax Polymer Net Sheild, or any other nano coating, it's going to get dirty quickly. Waxes and QDs are not that great as far as repelling debris.

SAME.

I LOVE it when it's clean... which is usually the remainder of the day that I hand wash it... but man does this sucker get filthy quite easily and our parking lot at work is dirt so that doesn't help. I hand washed it last Friday after work and it rained all weekend. Sunday night it had so much gunk and crap on it with with water spots that it looked like it had never been washed in its life.

I "had" a black 2007 GT. Never again will I buy a black vehicle unless it will sit in a showroom.

Have you ever seen a black car in a showroom. It is usually covered in fine dust and a million finger prints.

Black is a love/hate relationship. Love it when it's clean, hate it when it's dirty.

The problem with black is, it's like an "ultimate truth". There is no hiding, lying, manipulation going on. It's either clean or dirty.

Other colored cars get just as dirty and just as quick, they just hide it better.

You have two choices with black, constant touch-ups between major washes or let it get dirty between washes. Some use dusters and wipe it down after driving. To others, that is the worst thing you can do to a black car.

My car gets more dirty when it sits in the garage than it does if I drive it. Driving at least blows the dust off of it.

There are two choices with black. Battle it out or throw in the towel and trade it for another color. Me, I like a good challenge :D

You got the wrong color if you want long lasting cleanness.

Black cars are dirty 5 minutes after washing them. It's enough to drive someone crazy. Ask me how I know [emoji12]
