Who has installed their Wipple themselves

Hello,

New to the forum and just took delivery of my 2016 GT PP. I have been planning to install a Whipple and it looks like I will be doing the install myself unless there are any recommendations for an installer in the Northern Virginia area. I was a professional mechanic 30 years ago, and I have kept up with vehicle technology for the most part. So, I am not afraid to attempt this I just want to link up with some of you that have done the install yourselves, and discuss any hints or pitfalls you experienced. I didn't install mine myself due to having 3 houses that I was renovating at the time lol. However, it looks like an easy install. Definitely get the 72lb injectors and 132mm TB. Can't wait to see your build bro.

I've put a supercharger on a car before with my uncle (not a S550) and it wasn't that difficult. It's just keeping track of everything and keeping confident throughout the process. You can't be "scared" you're doing things wrong, but you can triple check everything to ensure you did a quality job - make sense?

I've seen the Procharger instructions for S550s and, reading through, it looks like I could pull it off easy. The Roush supercharger, though, requires you to cut some metal on the block I think and that is just not going to happen. Of all companies, they should have designed something that required no cutting. I digress...

I installed mine. Just be methodical and meticulous about things and you will be fine. As stated above, feel free to PM me, and I will help you should you hit any snags.

Post up pics of any problems and someone will likely answer in an hour or two.

When you get to torquing intake and SC down, keep in mind you can torque things down without any evap brackets or other things in the way. Once torqued down, pull bolts to mount any brackets and retorque.

Check the casting parting line on tensioner body. Mine had a burr.

Use a flat strip of aluminum to make strips to zip tie wire harness to so it doesnt hang at back of block or down on bell housing.

Welcome and you have made a wise choice. Again recommend the stage 2 132mm throttle body and the 72 inj. I did my install and had some questions and comments I added here on my thread. PM me any time you have questions.

If you need any help, hit me up. I installed my whipple on my 2014 and it wasn't hard at all. I am in DMV area. I work in Springfield, VA. but live in Waldorf, MD. As soon as the speed by design twin turbo kit is available I am going to install that myself on my 2016. You'll be just fine installing the kit.
