Is anyone running track days with a Whipple sc on a 2016 mustang 5.0? Wondering if there are overheating problems. Or any other problems for that matter.
Had to swap to GT350/PP radiator.
Reische 170 Thermostat.
Open up grill some.
Enclosed airbox all the way up to in front of grill to avoid pulling in fan wash.
Still have heat issues. Planning on pulling firewall coping and opening up back of hood to get air out above firewall. Or get a different hood but I want to keep it looking stock.
I have a Reische 170 Thermostat with the upgraded IC pump and dual fans. Multiple runs no heat or overheating issues. Whipple designed the system specifically for track runs.
Thank you that is great to hear. I have ordered the stage 2 with the dual fans.
The folks at Whipple say I should not have overheating issues.
I was at Watkins Glen this week and a few folks said I would have overheating issues in their opinion. The car was fun stock I can only imagine how it will be with the Whipple and suspension upgrades!!
I run track here in CA and I haven't had any overheating issues except maybe my brakes. I run it hard and it's never given me an issue. This is even on 100+ degree days.
I have the stage 2 with NO fans and a more open aftermarket grill plus 170 thermostat. Incredible fun.
I have the pp rad, stage 2 IC pump and dual fans and at 102 outside if I do 3 pulls back to back of 2-4th I have to idle it at 65 on highway to keep it at 241CHT or lower.
Its trackable, but have to be careful screwn around in stop n go traffic.
The reische 170 allows me to run 10-14F cooler CHT vs the Whipple Motorad 160. The motorad 160 although rated lower temp does not have as wide physical opening.
