So Stangs are arriving on lots finally where are the commercials? I haven't seen anything on TV. Watching football all day today. Watched a little of the World Series. Nothing so far.

It's not needed yet. Wasted money. They are barely sitting on lots long enough to do the PDI. No need to spend money on marketing until the natural marketing of being all new wears off.

Juat stopped to look at a black ecoboost and within the five minutes that I was there, five other cars had also stopped. It is true that they really don't need publicity right now.

I'm not a marketing or sales person, but is that how ad campaigns work? They wait until the newness of something wears off? I agree it might be premature today since most dealers still don't even have the cars, but I'm not sure I agree they should wait until most people have moved on to something else. That doesn't seem to be the way the advertising works for the latest Apple device, smartphone, movie etc that is launching....

Why advertise something that is not available in volume on the lots? There's enough buzz with the reviews, etc. for the enthusiasts. I expect Ford will pull out the stops in late winter/early spring.

I don't know if I agree that there is "enough buzz" I don't think the general public has any idea theres a redesigned mustang. Like you said the buzz is in the automotive world with the enthusiasts and car mag readers. I'm not sure public awareness is that widespread that a commercial during highly televised sporting events (NFL Sunday and world series) isn't necessary.

3 Mustang advertisements I remember... When I use the Peabody way back machine.

1964-65 Nation Geographic Magazine: White Mustang hardtop winning the Tiffany award.

1967-69 "Ford has better idea" with tungsten light bulb logo and Bill Cosby highlighting different things over time.

1970 Tournament of Thrills event Magazine, Mach1's, Boss 302, Torino Cobras, and pesky Mavericks.

I'm sure there's a lot more, they sure weren't like what is listed here.

You will see Mustang advertising when there are more on dealers lots. They don't want to run into the same problem as the current MKZ, where ads generated dealer traffic and there wasn't anything to sell because cars were held up.
