Deep Concave Wheel Profiles Now Available​

Being the Director of the Ford/Motorsports Division for Signature Wheel has provided many cool opportunities. One of them is to continually innovate and push to get to that next level for our platform. I prefer to test everything we recommend on my own car first, in both street and track conditions. That has led me to latest iteration of my GT350R, and the presentation of Deep Concave wheels for the GT350R/GT350.

Most wheels have a concave profile ranging from flat, mild, medium, deep, and super deep. Prior to now the furthest that could be accomplished was a medium profile. After a few years of work we have finally made it to the deep profile. This can be done in a 19" or 20" setup across all of our monoblock construction wheels. It also means a larger lip on our Flagship design. These are a direct bolt on with minor alignments changes needed, but attainable without buying additional parts.

In addition to the deep concave wheels I have also upgraded the front aero package with components from Archetype Racing. The front of the car is completely sucked to the ground, and I was able to get Curtis to make a custom gloss carbon front splitter to match the rest of my car. We are collaborating on a new rear wing similar to the GT500/GT4 to balance out the aero package, and will be available for you guys soon.

Howard G’s SV902 GT350R - 20x11 / 20x11.5 Deep Concave - Brushed Triple Black Tinted

Happy to say that our deep concave designs are in full effect. Howard was looking for a wheel to replace his carbon fiber wheels for street use. The Triple Black Tinted SV902 were the natural choice. This is all the OEM suspension settings from the 350R. Absolutely sick, and we can build this for you on any wheel.

Han Solo's SV703 GT500 - 20x11.5 Square Deep Concave Spec - Brushed Triple Black Tinted

Here are the pictures from my recent shoot with DA Media. My car has the track spec rear camber settings. These are what would need to be done for a deep concave profile to work in this design, but a medium concave build would be able to sit flush or inside the fenders all around. Just depends on the look you want, and I will accommodate.

Ok boys, back with a fortuitous update.

Came out to Florida amid all this madness to ensure fitment on a set of wheels we built for Sam at Coastal Dyno. Today we were able to mount his Signature Wheel Drag Pack SV104. These are built in a 20x9 / 18X11.5 and finished in Gloss Gunmetal. Very glad to say definitively that the rear 18" wheels clear the lower suspension link, bolt, and washer without any modification. Clearance here is tight at about 1-2mm. The washer and bolt are one piece, but the washer is built fairly large compared to the surface area on the link it contacts. There should not be much concern of anything getting stuck between the barrel and wheel as the rounded surface would kick off any debris, but I could see switching to a smaller bolt/washer combination for added room. However, that is not something required to get the wheels on the car or to go launch it at the track.

After completing the test fitting we got Sam's car on the ground for the first time to see those 325 Mickey Thompson ET Street R touch the floor.

Fortunately we had the opportunity to also test a rear wheel on Tyler/Jeff Scofield's GT500 as well. Here is some media for you to digest as we await several other drag pack setups. I am flying back home tomorrow to hide back in my cave.

Dusted off my Nikon to take the GT500 out for some pictures. Showcasing a couple of recent additions to our development GT500.

I know more than a few people are interested in a replica version of the Carbon Fiber Track Pack (CFTP) Wheel. Although we at Signature don’t have plans to replicate that wheel, this was a good opportunity to showcase our Precision Series SV703. This 6-spoke design has been part of our lineup and comes close to how the production CFTP wheel looks. More than a few people have asked if this was that wheel, and even I am surprised as how close they look. These are built in a 20x11.5 square, and tap in around 22-26 lbs depending on how we build them.

My good buddy Thom Demattei has become one of my go-to people for custom magnetic door numbers. He built some for my GT350R and Foxbody, so I also had him dream up something new for the 500. I wanted something that reflected my matching vin and chassis number of #68. End result was door numbers with a different color way for both sides. Super pleased with how they came out. On track days I just tape the leading edge and let the car eat. You can hit him up for a set by email: [email protected]

Lastly Racesng worked with me a bit on developing a new tow hook option for the GT500. As most know the OEM cover for the tow hook is removable, so no need to drill or cut to install one. My car will be geared more toward road-course use, and as such I don’t mind running a tow hook all the time. I cut a hole tight to the diameter of the Racesng shaft and will be using a rubber grommet around it to keep out air getting behind the bumper. Did some custom coloring to the Racesng logo in blue to match the car. Happy with the design of their piece and look forward to the forthcoming production pieces.

Recently got my Foxbody project back from Griggs Racing. Still a ton to do to this car, but a lot has happened so far. Griggs Watts link, coil overs, and rear GRV shocks are in. Awaiting the new torque arm to tie the rear setup together. The new Baer Brakes stop well, but still need more pressure to get them to feel like a modern pedal. Quite possible a hydro boost swap will be added. I could go on for days, but for now here are some pics snapped with my Nikon D750.

Thoroughly enjoying the feeling of boyish excitement we all experience at the sight of new mods for the car. No matter how long you’ve been doing it or how old you are the joy is still there. Pretty cool to see Darrell’s face light up when I test fitted one of our Signature Wheel SV703 on his GT500. 200 miles in and we got some bad ass wheels on the way.
