It is hard to know what is normal for many of the values we see in the gauges when driving under different conditions. Certain sounds could be 'normal' or something not right.

The idea is to pose specific questions and see what people come up with. Here is an example?

The day after I got the car I thought the voltage was about 14.7 (which I think is normal for just about every car). Today I noticed it was at 14 after starting and did not move from that the entire 25 minutes I drove it.

What do others have?

Valve train noise

The second question I have is about what I think is valve noise. At about 2400 RPMs in 3rd gear, so moving fairly slow (below 40) with just a light touch on the throttle not completely off, but mostly, there seems to be more valve train noice. It is more pronounced when cold, but does seem to diminish when warm, but does not go away completely.

It is probably quite normal, but I wanted to hear if others have noticed it.

That noise I believe is what people are saying is "piston slap" - there are a few threads about it.

I personally thought it was flywheel chatter, as I hear it coming from the back of the motor / front of the transmission. But same exact noise - around 2-3k rpm and barely any throttle.

For voltage - at one time I saw 13.1V, but usually see around 14 - 14.2V.

I hear some noise from the front suspension over small bumps - there's another thread on here about that. Basically if I go over a small bump and only part of the tire rolls over the bump - I hear a more dull / hollow noise from the suspension that sounds almost like a soft clunking. Sounds like sway bar end links to me (my old Saab with worn sway bar end link bushings would make a similar noise in similar conditions). My GT350 is brand new though.

There's also the shifter buzzing / vibration noise in 2nd gear. If you push the shifter to the right, it stops. If you shift into 3rd (or any other gear) it stops. You can hear it best above 4k rpm - sport exhaust off. I have also heard a weird resonance / vibration (have heard it in videos of other GT350s too) around 7k rpm and above. I believe it's the same shifter resonance, or coming from the center console area.

Thanks. I thought I saw the voltage once on my car, the day after I got it at 14.7. But that was after the feature that shuts down extra power consumers engaged. I was the day after I got the car. I was detailing it and so lights and doors were open a bit. From my early days as a mechanic 14.7 seems about the max output you should see, so perhaps the 14 I now see is after things have settled down. That seems consistent with what you have.

The only annoying sound is a vibration/buzz in the instrument cluster under easy load and fairly low speeds over an uneven road - not too bad. I am going to leave it alone :-)
Thanks
