There is ALWAYS going to be "the next best thing" in the automotive industry. If you don't eventually settle for something, you're just going to drive yourself crazy waiting for that next thing.

As for myself, I'm really happy with my '15 GT and thoroughly enjoying driving it and looking forward to gradually doing mods over the next several months. I figure by the time the 2018 models come out about a year and half from now, I'll still be so busy with my current car that I won't have any desires to trade up to something new. Then, even further down the road when the S650 is released in mid-2020, it'll be the perfect time for me to install a supercharger, which would no doubt silence any desire for me to buy something new instead. :D

I'm not a Mustang owner yet, but am considering a 2018 Mustang. I would be coming over from a BMW E46 convertible, but am not interested in the new BMWs due to cost and complexity of servicing (I like to work on my own cars). So, in case somebody is reading at Ford, here is my wish list:
- Flatter, more classic hood (more Mustang, less Fusion)
- I'm interested in the V6 convertible, so more options similar to the new Camaro
- Any upgrades to the base SYNC system would be appreciated
Just my 2 cents.

But sometimes the "next best thing" is a bigger jump than others, and then there is a plateau for a few years. It may make sense to wait at certain points.

A week after I got my 2010 GT, I found out about the 5.0...a 30% HP increase. I felt pretty bad about it. I traded up for a 2012 after that. I don't expect that there will be as big of a change for 2018 vs. 2017, but it seems like 2018 is due for *something*, and I'm personally going to wait to see what it is.

I hear you. The release of the Coyote was a really big deal. Those of us who have 2015 models got on the S550 train early though, so we're going to enjoy this body style for the maximum amount of time possible. As others have mentioned, the 6th gen will probably see only minor cosmetic and/or performance changes over the next four years, so I'm personally not worried about "missing out" on some small feature added in the near future.

If we were in April of 2019 right now though, most people on here (myself included) would probably recommend that someone wanting to buy a Mustang just wait another year for the 7th gen instead. Sales of a particular vehicle usually always see a big drop the year before a major model upgrade anyway, which is just the nature of the industry. In the meantime, I'm going to focus on enjoying the here and now. :)

Deer Lord.

They're not going to give out any info on it because if they do no one will buy the 2017.

Well we know already they're working on minor styling tweaks for the front and rear. Thing is I don't think Ford is in a hurry since the rivals aren't putting a dent in sales.

I doubt they will wait all the way until 2020 because the Mustang is really already behind. All the 2015 really did was upgrade to IRS and tach on 15hp
That's all...no biggie.

It's not that great when you consider the mustang was basically the last one to the party with IRS. People need to stop being touchy about newer models.

Even if all they do is release a 10spd auto it will still be good reason for someone to wait for the 2018 as it would impact both performance and fuel efficiency

The purpose of the thread is not so everyone can jump in and say why they are happy with what they have now

My guess:

Styling tweaks front n rear (new fascias and lamps)
Hopefully a bump in power (450-460 in the GT)
10-speed auto (already confirmed for the '17 Raptor and ZL1 Camaro)
MagneRide option
Would love to see additional aluminium panels

The '18MY F150 has already been spotted in camo, so hopefully it won't be long before the '18MY Mustang is caught in a similar fashion :)

I would also add a Twin turbo 6 :D.
