SSM 45172 - 2015 3.7L And 5.0L Mustang- Exhaust Rattle, Knock Noise
Some 2015 Model Year Mustang vehicle built on or before 3/30/15, equipped with 3.7L Duratec 4V and 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 engines may exhibit exhaust rattle/knock noise emitting from the muffler resonator. Elevating idle to 1500 RPM and performingthrottle tip-in, tip-out events in neutral will assist in confirming noise concern and is not to be confused with an exhaust leak that was addressed with a previously released TSB on 2015 Mustang 5.0L Ti-VCT V8 equipped vehicles. Updated muffler resonator assemblies are now available to resolve vehicle concern. Reference Workshop Manual Section 309-00B or 309-00C Exhaust System for component location and Removal and Installation procedure.

Was your AC on when the noises occurred? It sounds oddly like a compressor in a fridge, that is either going bad or is loose... just a thought.

Hey guys, it's been a while!

And believe it or not, all Ford dealerships within 50 miles from my house (which is like.. 2, lol) are all booked up until this coming up Wednesday (July 22). Couldn't go in this Wednesday although I had an appointment because the technician "called out." They are apparently all up to their heads in appointments. I'm really starting to get overwhelmed with the whole thing because just two days ago, my Bluetooth started acting up again for the 4th time since I had to continuously bring it back and forth to the dealership for them to do a mass reset.

To your question, Cush, my A/C was not on during the rattling noises.

They wouldn't fix mine because of the Roush axle back I have. Guess I will be doing a resonator delete.

I'm getting sick of the driver side tiny rattle. That's for damn sure.

Mine started doing the same thing. I had my original mid pipe on before my xpipe and never happened. After I removed my xpipe and got a factory catback with resonator from another member here, it started doing it. I believe mine had the updated resonator and when I got the factory catback from another member here he had the older resonator.

Btw, nothing against the person that I got the catback from for free. Is just the older resonators that have this issue. Maybe I will replace it with aftermarket resonator.

Mine just recently startled rattling noticeably as well. I noticed the rattle probably in my 2nd week of ownership but it was very faint and disappeared after a couple seconds. Now it's very noticeable upon a cold start and I can even hear it if I accelerate to around 1250-1500 RPMS or decelerate in that range.

Since they wouldn't fix mine under warranty due to the Roush axle back it was left to me to fix. I just cut out the resonator and put in an H pipe. I'm happy to say no more rattle. Holy cow though... The Roush with H pipe is LOUD! I may have to get a different axle back down the line sometime.
