I was in my backyard by one of my magnolia trees and heard something moving around in the leaves, it was a green gecko (anole).

He was way out on the end of a limb, licking the backside of one of the leaves and just keep doing it, I first thought he was getting moisture from the leaf but no it was bone dry, he appeared to be licking a slightly white substance that was on back of the leaf.

I wonder that whatever the leaf was secreting was like a drug to him, maybe it was sweet or maybe it just made him feel good.

Has anyone else witness this, it is quite intriguing to me.

That is hilarious! I am pretty sure it was a sweet, tasty substance for him to keep licking at it.

Maybe he was licking it for 15 minutes to save 15% or more?

Dunno corny geico joke.

Either way none of mine around here seem to do anything like that. Probably was like ice cream to him.
